Funnily enough on the RDR2 discussion, the rumour of a current gen patch has reared its head again, and we will probably actually find out soon enough if it's true as you'd imagine it'll be released a while before GTA VI advertising ramps up.
I liked the game a lot. Its world is incredible and the production levels are phenomenal. One thing I had a big problem with was that I felt it was too on-rails. One of the beautiful things about Red Dead Redemption was that you had a bit of freedom in doing missions and stuff around the world. You could get into a fist fight at a saloon or in the street and knock the other guy out, or you could cheat at poker and be caught and end up killing the accuser in a duel, and in both incidents everyone watches you during it and just walks away. You can't do anything in RDR2 without lawmen coming after you and it's infuriating at times. I mean I'm talking insulting a passer-by, or knocking them over accidentally. In addition, most of the missions are so on-rails that you can't stray even a little from the main path or do anything other than what you've been told to do without getting a mission failure. It just feels very restrictive.
Red Dead Redemption is one of my favourite games of all time though. I'm in the minority in liking it over 2 but I just feel it does so much better. Its story and its depiction of the encroachment of "civilisation" and the death of the wild west felt more realistic than the on-the-nose commentary in 2, and I just loved John. He has many flaws and the game doesn't shy away from showing how naive he is, but nothing is ever shoved in your face.

It’s one of my favs. I’d probably suck it up and go through it again and just make a few different choices to make it feel like a new run or something. I sucked it up and went through it again. Past the 2nd gym now. Helps that I figured out how to fast-forward my emulator so I could fly to where I was within an hour or two. Can you tell I've never emulated a game in my life before? Baby's first ROM. A whole new world of possibilities has opened up before me.

I can't play a normal Pokemon game after playing ROMS. Speeding stuff up is such a godsend.

Have you heard about our lord and savior, Pokemon Infinite Fusion? Please don't, the world of Pokemon ROM hacks is a rabbit hole that I fear I may never climb out of if it gets it's hooks into me

Dabbled a little bit with UltraViolet? A good time, especially if you're not overly familiar with Pokemon after Gen 2 because you're old!

I keep thinking that I really should get properly into Red Dead Redemption 2 - I've started it and played for a few hours, and I can feel that the game is clearly very good and has a great deal of craftsmanship behind it, but Christ it's slow. I'm really not a fan of Rockstar's habit of making characters feel more and more like they're wading through molasses just moving anywhere, and holding buttons down to interact with certain NPCs or objects as a mandatory part of gameplay.
Yeah I've been told that game is amazing and I know a lot of non-gamery types who have said it's the best game ever but the sort of over-commitment to realism doesn't interest me so much. I still need to play the first one to be fair so I'd sooner get to that! Have you played Death Stranding? I think my mind would constantly be going to that game if I were working as a delivery driver hahaha
You know, I bought it a while back and still haven't gotten around to it - but you make a good point about the job parallel!

Just getting into Guilty Gear Strive! Having a tough time picking my main, though, as I can't find a 'Cammy', haha.
