There's a way to avoid those fixed encounters but I forget how.

I imagine you're trying to play the game the "proper" way and not using the in-game boosters that come with the remastered PS4 versions of the game.

Yeah pretty much, want to experience it in a genuine way. I've no idea why anyone would want to play this game and activate God-mode, the beauty is truly in learning the mechanics and junctioning magic to make some absolute mad bastard warriors.

It's fun on repeat playthroughs, but I think it'd be valid on a 1st time playthrough to turn on 3x speed for grinding/drawing purposes.

I used x3 speed when I had to sit through cut scenes i'd already seen, not going to lie. But I reckon that's justified.

Completed and platinumed FF8 tonight

Genuinely can’t decide where I place it, it’s easily in the top tier of FF games though. What a masterpiece.

Low-key has one of the very best OSTs too. I mean that's par for the course for that run of VI-X (probably even all the way up to XVI but I didn't play XI and am still yet to play XII) but I feel like VIII's is one of the very best of that bunch.

I wasn't into Final Fantasy until FFT: Ivalice Chronicles but something has really ckicked with that game for me, and I'm curious as to what would be the best game for an absolute beginner. I bought a few a few weeks ago because they were on sale. I have VII, VIII, IX, X, 15, and 16. What do?

Oh boy oh boy are you in for a treat.

Honestly, if you’re anything like me then you’ll want to play at least some of the originals. I don’t know what your tolerance is for 2D JRPGs but Final Fantasy VI at the very least should be experienced by every gamer to be honest.

If you’re dead set on starting from the PS era then honestly just do it in order. They are all their own unique games. I played FFX originally a while ago but you can’t go wrong wherever you start.

I'm very curious about V and VI at the very least because I know they have great villains.

I'm getting into old school Japanese games now. I bought Phantasy Star on my Switch haha
