Just read an interview with Soken about his work on XIV and XVI and did not realise that XIV's Dawntrail is the start of a potential 10 year plan for the title? Did not know they were going to stay focused on it for that long. Then again it is an MMO and after the effort and time Square put into relaunching the game after its initial disaster of a release I suppose they'll keep going given its been received so well ever since.

XIV is I think their most financially profitable project, I think. Yoshida probably has clout that rivals that of ancient Greek gods at Square's offices for what he's done with that game.

On which one is my favourite, mine is FFVII, it's also probably my second most favourite game of all time behind Super Metroid, loved Remake and Rebirth even more. Not many games get me to tear up from just the joy of playing it or because I care so much about the characters.

Also, after finishing Rebirth last year I went back to the original FFVII to get the platinum, it was so much fun, I've never been able to beat Ruby weapon before, so it felt great to finally do it after so many years. I loved trying out all the recommended tactics to take him out. I think in the end I did the trick where you only have 1 party member alive and then use W-Summon with Knights of the Round amongst some other things I'm forgetting. I love the materia system.

I’m intending to do the platinum in the lead up to whatever the finale of the trilogy is. I platinumed Crisis Core before Rebirth and it serves well to sort of fill the gap between titles. Although I’ve actually not even beaten Rebirth. It’s just had to take a back burner in lieu of a lot of other stuff despite being my most anticipated game of last year. I have this weird thing where I won’t boot the Remake games up unless I have a good chunk of time because I feel this need to properly “respect” my first playthrough. I need to get back to it fr.

Couldn't imagine getting the plat for Rebirth, that 7 star hotel trophy can absolutely do one.

I still have an aim to do it even though I don't really care about trophies. I actually just enjoyed doing a load of the side content (some I did hate mind), the only thing I have left are the VR challenges. But mentally I don't feel ready to face them again. But it's just those Brutal and Legendary ones. But I mean when the directors/developers tell you after that they made things too difficult to get it and won't do it that way for P3 then you know it's bad.

I also went back to Crisis Core last year to try and get the platinum, but trying to beat all the missions was just driving me nuts so I abandoned it lol. It was too much of a slog for me.

Yeah, the last thing I needed to do to get the platinum was to beat the hardest Combat Challenges, but I couldn't be bothered trying anymore.

I’m a little bit of the way through Final Fantasy IV and I have to say I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would. So far the story and characters are pretty captivating.

I’m half way through FFIV now, just landed in the underworld. I have to say I am enjoying this more than FFVI. That’s not a knock on six, it’s more of a huge praise for IV. The game has really resonated with me for various reasons
Spoiler:
Outside of this I’m just enjoying the battles a bit more than VI. I feel as if they are a bit more challenging, but maybe that’s because I’ve grinded less.
