Anyone playing Arc Raiders? I've never really played extraction shooters but a lot of my friends are playing and FOMO is kicking in and I don't think Foxhunt has got any life in it for the long haul and I'm not willing to commit to it.

I've thought a fair bit about it. Read EDGE's write up on it recently and seen the hype (that mag came out about the same time it released I think). The concept of PvPvE sounds fun but I've read a lot of people saying it's basically just PvP now. Watched a fair bit of gameplay and don't think it's for me, although maybe that's extraction shooters in general. The AI usage for voices and other things also put me off. I thought I was destined to get BF6 but EA's PIF takeover left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth and I still wasn't entirely sure they wouldn't do something similar to 2042 and make a balls of it. Feel like the shooter genre is a difficult one for me to feel as comfortable in now like I used to be.

Anyone played Cosmic Invasion? I'll be buying it next Friday as I've become a big fan of classic beat 'em ups over the last year thanks to games like Shredder's Revenge and Rita's Rewind. I'm also a big Marvel Comics fan (though I prefer DC, haha), so it seems like a match made in (Outer) Heaven.

So...turns out the Dreamcast I bought wasn't as in as good a condition as it seemed. A couple of games didn't load consistently, which was weird, but didn't think too much of it. Got a copy of Crazy Taxi, and the disc is spotless. It doesn't boot. At best it loads to the Sega logo then returns to main menu. I did a smidge of googling and read about people putting consoles on their sides/back to play games. Dreamcast on its back? Crazy Taxi boots. Cleaned the laser and was terrified that I'd straight up killed it.

Initially contacted the buyer to ask if they'd provide a partial refund as it wasn't fully operational as the laser seems to be dying. They refused, telling me it was fully operational when they shipped it (although noted that they tested it 'a while ago'). Contacted ebay directly - who ended up refunding the whole purchase. And I don't have to return anything?

The stuff about holding consoles a certain way to get them to boot is so wild. Operation Anchorage on Fallout 3 fucked my PS3. Like it straight up won't read games since a bad crash while playing that. I thought it had become a digital only console but if I lean the console back when the disc is inserted it'll read it. Ridiculous but useful. Didn't especially want to replace it with how many games I had downloaded from old friends' accounts back in school lmao

So, turns out Marvel Cosmic Invasion is really, really dope. Not the deepest beat em up I've played but the Marvel theme is outstanding. So many little easter eggs and nods to the wider universe, and the cast has some wild out of left field picks.

Also, Terminator 2D: No Fate is amazing!

Realised I wasn't really in the mood for something like Sekiro right now so I've put it aside for the time being and decided to give Baldur's Gate 3 a try. I bought it for Leelee last Christmas as I'm positive it's her kind of world and RPG but she struggled with the combat. Only played the intro so far, not entirely sure I'm definitely in the mood for this either as I feel a bit like nothing is particularly interesting me right now so I may well drop this too but I'm going to give it a go at least.
