Painting, modelling, sketching, drawing, pottery and special effects - all that good stuff! Show it off in this thread, or generally discuss pieces you're working on or really appreciate.

I'm currently working on remaking an ending scene from a video game, which is calling for a lot of individual assets I'm making by hand (all as a way to practice and learn the intricacies of Blender 3D). I've done the main vehicle on my PC at home, but whilst at my parents, I'm using the laptop I have here to slowly make some extra bits and pieces. I've still got to make a few things, including the main character who will be sat in the vehicle and the background audience, but with the vehicle done, it feels nice to slow things down and try other bits.

So right now, I'm pretty chuffed at the progress I've made in making a Pit Droid from Star Wars! Only the head is done right now, but it was still tougher than I anticipated to get all the proportions how I wanted them.

What’s the progress like now, Jass?

I’ve been working on some papier-mache catfish heads for a project I’ve been asked to be a part of. It sounds all fun and games but I’m going away for work soon so I’m running out of time to work on them and I may have to make a third when originally I thought I’d only need to make two. I’m fluctuating between massively stressed and serenely calm at an alarming rate lol

Here’s a pic of the one that’s at a state of near completion which may end up being scrapped and having to be redone:

Lmao I love this, I haven't done paper mache in ages, have you enjoyed it?

No progress on the Pit Droid (as it's a project I've got at my parent's place whenever I visit them), but the main part of the overall project is more or less done - I want to add a few scorch marks and some panellings, but as of yesterday, I've been trying to get the hang of modelling faces and characters so that the final animation can have background actors.

It’s been enjoyable if not quite stressful and very time consuming. Waiting for it to dry means it takes days lmao. I’m really hoping I don’t have to make a third since I’m going to be either at work or in a hotel room for the next three weeks. Dont think hotels take kindly to those sorts of activities.

The podracer looks great!

For my Only Forever animation/comic project I opted to start making a studio logo back in April for it.
It took 74 days (or 2½ months) to finish and it only amounts to 38 seconds, but i kinda liked how it came out.
I'll post an unlisted link below if anyone wants to watch it.

The sound/track was made back in January 2024 using equipment I found at work.

This is great. Got a bit of the Lynch/Frost Productions logo about it.

Great thread. Very jealous of Jassassino and your current Blender ability, I have just enough free time to stew and lament that I haven't learned Blender, but not enough time to learn Blender.

Making 3D anything in Adobe After Effects is a fucking nightmare, no matter how much RAM I shove into this gaming rig. I've been working on this commercial mock-up for a cyberpunk memory brokerage firm from the future, here's a screenshot:

Spoiler:
That fucking cube took me like three days of fighting a dozen crashes per session. The Japanese text changes and flashes rapidly and messing with even the text color has a chance of making After Effects go catatonic. And then the thing spins too, so AE is just barely chugging along as it renders any changes I make to it.

Regardless, trying to figure out what else the Cube might need, somehow it still feels bare to me. Suggestions are welcome.

Dr. Strangelove That is absolutely nuts, you have a perfect color scheme going. 38 seconds of immediately established personality.

Cheers mate! I've actually now done with the whole main model, animated its movement, electric arc and the accompanying sandstorm. All that's left is to finish off the background actors and main character, render it and composite it all in one clip.

Fucking hell, AE can be an absolute bastard. I remember having to work with it a tonne in one of my old jobs and there would be times where you'd just be waiting for ten minutes for it to chug out a few frames. Nightmarish tool (but much more UI friendly than Blender lmao)

Love it! Insane amount of work you've put into it really shows.

The fish film has been wrapped. Thank God as I was going a bit insane. The one from my previous post didn't even feature in the end, I made two new ones since then while also working full time for most of the period. This has been my life since I started work on it:

And here's a photo of me and my girlfriend in the finished thing:

This is my first time my own fanart here.
It's Pliskin using the Giga Cannon (Huge Cannon in Japanese ver.) from Armored Core V!
It's one of the Ultimate (Overed in Japanese ver.) Weapons from the 5th Gen of the Series.

I've also got MGR Raiden or Venom Snake with the Grind Blade in the plans!
