Finished animating the first shot in a larger animation project - overlaid some nostalgic PSX music over the top and extended it a bit to show it off. Pretty proud of how this is turning out, but I'm ready to put this wider project on ice at the moment so I can work on other things and circle back around to it.

Think I'll continue on with my MGS PS1 render work now that I've done this and have a way more in-depth understanding of how PSX texture compression and modelling (especially vertex snapping) works and how to convey it. Also circled back to my Podracer project this evening too so I could figure out come bits and pieces with light bounces and sample sizes for denoising. Pretty proud of the result:

Not posted in here with anything I've been working on in a while, so here's my most recent finished render - it's based on Adam Adamowicz' concept art for Fallout 3, one of the more punk looking plasma pistol concepts he designed. This was an especially fun one, not only a lot of fun little spiky individual parts, but gave me a chance to properly do a few tutorials in Adobe Substance Painter 3D.

Concept Art for reference:

Now moved onto working on something else, from Fallout 3 Concept Art again this time, but from Fallout 3: Van Buren, our cancelled baby:

Absolutely awesome. Did you look into modding it into NV like you said you were considering?

Cheers babe, yeah I've actually been watching a few tutorials on the GECK and reckon I can do it. I'll probably have to make my own reload animation set but other than that it looks doable!

@Jassassino Today is the day, I am going to join you on the long, winding road into Blender.
Spoiler:
(I know this isn't particularly impressive, it's just two default meshes, but I like my cone monkey nonetheless.)

Ultimately I'm hoping to make some PS2/GTA III styled assets and hopefully make a little animation with them in the future.

I also have been intermittently working on that After Effects project still, here's a very fast snapshot and the isolated spinning cube graphic I made for it (minor eyestrain/epilepsy warning, I am imitating the opening credits from Enter The Void):

Very proud of how the cube came out aesthetically, gonna clean it up a bit and use it as a logo graphic for other future projects I think.

EDIT: For some reason YT will not play it at its highest quality, my apologies

I cannot see that image at all because the UK Gov thinks it's definitely pornography, but gassed you're dipping into Blender!

It's phenomenal how, once you get used to it, how versatile of a program it is. You'll find you can do way more on it than you anticipated to begin with. I'm actually working on rigging and animation of one of my projects atm, hopefully share it tomorrow or something.

PS2 aesthetic is really GOAT, I think the Emotion Engine lent itself so naturally to hyper stylised looks and invoking that kind of unreal, etheral aesthetic which looked so good for PS2 games. Looking forward to seeing what you make!

Totally forgot to mention this on here, but I modded my gun model into New Vegas, I want to give it some animations (make the ball spin around in the chamber, add purple sparks/lightning inside the coils, etc.) and make the plasma blast purple too, but for now, really pleased with how it turned out. Also super pleased I was able to work out how to mod New Vegas/Fallout 3, even though these things have extensive writing on how to do nearly everything, there are knowledge gaps which simply require you to brute force your way into making things work.

Incredible. No notes, you're absolutely smashing it Government of the UK.

Yes! Share! I must see.

There's tons of tutorials and guides that detail how to specifically make PS1/N64-era graphics, not nearly as much too specific in the realm of PS2/XBOX-era graphics, so I might be flying a bit blind, but let's see if I make it there anytime soon first.

I've had an idea for a short series that looks like an early 2000s video game for a long while, but it was being recommended this at random that finally made me get off my ass:

You really nailed the proper fallout aesthetic with that pistol btw, excited to see it completed.
