I liked it a lot, I can definitely see it's influence on Metal Gear (the whole movie is basically the plot of Snake Eater) and why it's got the cult following it has. Really loved how in the very beginning of the movie the MC is losing his mind in a Saigon hotel because all he wants to do is get back in the jungle, and as the movie goes along, everyone else around him becomes more and more unhinged because they want to get out of it.

Great movie. Ending totally sucked though. I almost feel like with how stellar the main body of the film was, the ending being bad was almost on purpose.

Awwww man, that's my favourite way movie, and imo it's Coppola's magnum opus. Everything about it is so perfect, Redux is my favourite version. It's a long movie but I get so lost in it that I don't even realise.

I need to watch it again actually, it's been a few years

Which version of it did you watch? theatrical or director's cut?

I didn't know there were two versions, probably theatrical? There was nothing in the movie title screen or credits that indicated it was the director's cut.

Went back and looked, apparently I had watched the "Redux" made for the 2001 Cannes. I've seen some discourse online over the Redux "destroying the pacing" compared to the theatrical release. I'll have to find the original 1979 release and watch that sometime.

Currently Watching: Gannibal Season 2.
- One of my favourite TV shows I watched last year. It's based on a Japanese manga series. One of the most gripping and exciting shows I've watched in a while (barring Severance and Shogun). Follows the story of a troubled detective, named Daigo, taking a transfer to a village where the previous local police officer who was assigned the post, went missing in what was considered a bout of psychosis. It's a very well-made mix of horror, thriller and crime drama, probably one of my favourites of the latter in recent years (and man I watch a tonne of those - probably the most egregiously Brit thing about myself and my brother).

Just finished The Penguin. That show was so incredibly well done. A true villain story that makes you feel a lot of different emotions. I think James Gunn is going to have a hard time trying to top Matt Reeves's Batman universe.

Man I fucking looooooved The Batman. I liked The Penguin show a lot too. I was worried they were gonna turn him into a anti-hero or have him change his ways. I'm glad they had the guts to make him into an even bigger piece of shit by the end

For real dude. The ending was diabolical. I sat there with my hands on my head mortified for like the last 12 minutes of the episode. Can’t wait for Batman to fuck him up lol.

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me

I've been showing my girlfriend Twin Peaks after David Lynch died and we recently got through the hard slog that is season 2. FWWM is truly something else, no matter how many times I watch it, it always feels like the first time. There's something so spiritual and dreamy about it that I can never put into words, this, Lost Highway and Blue Velvet is Lynch at his best imo

Can't wait to start The Return again soon!

That’s awesome man! I actually just got around to watching Twin Peaks with my wife as well. We’re currently at the “Lynch Left” and killer revealed party of season 2. It is def a quality drop but I’m pushing through for the movie and final season. But man, what an amazing series. After the first 3 episodes I had to google if the show was meant to be this funny or if I was misinterpreting its intent. Lynch was a genius.

Hell yeah, it's definitely worth sticking out S2. FWWM and S3 are great but a dit different in feel than S1.
It's definitely supposed to be funny at times

The Missing Pieces is also worth a watch if you enjoy FWWM, it's pretty much a glorified deleted scenes reel of random scenes that were cut that add a bit more context or just show unrelated things. It's around 90 mins in length if I remember correctly
