@ Jassassino
So the gym I mentioned. It wasn't Holsten Pills cans, it was Castlemaine and they look like they've been up there a while looking at how faded they are.
Also, plants growing indoors!
This is why we don't have treadmills that work. That and the roidheads don't use them.

I can smell the mildew and sweat from these photos alone. Beautiful. Who would've thought that shotgunning a can of castlemaine in the gym is the perfect pre-workout?
All that being said, there's actually something very aesthetic about gyms which are the absolute pits. We used to have one in Dover where I used to live called The Weights Room - understaffed to the point where you could just walk in if you wanted to, about 3 treadmills and a whole warehouse of weights with nothing else. I remember the shower in the changing room had no curtain or door and was on the same level as the rest of the changing room floors, so if someone had a particularly long shower, you would just be walking in a big square puddle when getting changed.
Ah, the good old days!

Update: I'm now able to run for 5 minutes consistently. Pretty pathetic, I know, but that's up from 3 minutes last week. Looking forward to losing all my progress once christmas rolls around!

Progress is progress and you shouldn't diminish it or yourself. Keep going and I'm sure Christmas won't derail you too much.
I'm thinking of taking up Muay Thai or Boxing in the new year. I like the idea of working on some sort of self defence and striking appeals far more than grappling. I believe the idea of a swift punch or knee and running away being the best form of self-defence.

Honestly man congrats, it's no small feat to be able to run consistently for any amount of time, long or short. You're asking your heart to essentially safely up it's BPM and stay at that just because when you do, which is insane really.

I did Muay Thai for about a month before and really enjoyed it! Ended up taking a backseat and then was lost amidst everything else I was doing, but I think it's great.
Will be my final long practice run this weekend before my marathon on the 30th. Going to to extremely slow paced for 35km and then essentially just allow my body to rest until race day with some short 5/10km runs between it. Am I bricking it? Yes. Am I looking forward to a break from running immediately after? Yes. Moreso than the marathon maybe...
