MGF's Official Rant Thread - Jassassino - 11-02-2026

I'll start:

Every week I go into the office once a week, grab a Thameslink to get there. Used to be easy enough, I'd get a seat easy. Over the past 4 or 5 months, there's been exponentially more and more people on my usual train. There's been times in the past few weeks where I would simply have to wait for the next one to be able to get on, and if one was cancelled, I'd be fucked for space on any of them and have to find another way.

Just let people continue working from home. I actually don't care about all this talk about productivity etc.

And if there's an uptick on people commuting to the office? Increase the number and size of trains!

Also, coincidentally, as I was just done typing all the above, an overhead wire for our track broke and we had to get off the train to change to the underground instead. Bruh. 💀

Anyway yeah, what's been on your mind lately? Anything you wanna get off your chest?

Something I find annoying about going into the office is that they've absolutely becoming stricter about people using off-peak tickets during peak times, which I frequently do. I swear you used to be able to get through the barriers no matter what ticket you had but now it won't let you through unless you travel at the correct time. It costs about half as much and I'm not paying the extortionate price of a peak time ticket!

I feel like spending a bit of time in the North and in Wales has made me feel quite grateful for how lax some of the ticket people in the South feel in comparison. They can't take that away from us, it's all we have!

@Jassassino how often do you get a ticket person on Thameslink. I have never, ever had one. I'm sure they exist. But I've never seen one in the flesh.

I've had a ticket check on Thameslink literally once - it was when I was on my way to Hertfordshire, so well outside of London. Bell ends!

You know what really brings my piss to a boil? Duo Chocolate Bars. Obviously we all know that they've never been as big as two of the normal ones but very recently it seems like they've now all shrunk to the point where they're practically the same size as a single bar used to be.

Irn Bru needs to stop trying to make other flavours. It's an institution of a drink and its attempts to branch out actually embarrass the brand. Ice cream? Cream soda? Bubblegum? Some wackos say Irn Bru tastes like these things anyway so why release a flavour of something you already taste like? You don't see Dr Pepper releasing a marzipan flavour.

Yes Vanilla Coke exists. But it's an exception to the rule and even then I'm not convinced by it.

When did sodas stop being allowed to just be a taste of their own and instead start constantly chasing quantifiable flavours? Just be your own thing, you don't have to taste like a cherry all the time.

RE: MGF's Official Rant Thread - Wayno - 12-04-2026

You know what takes the jam out of my doughnut? Improper full stops in acronyms. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Adding full stops in general has fallen out of practice which is fine. But at times it makes sense to use them. If signage is in all caps and you need the acronym to pop, throw some full stops in. But if you're going to use them do it properly for crying out loud.

I once saw a hoodie in the gym that said "T.R.E.N" which stood for Train, Rest, Eat, Nutrition. It makes sense to put the full stops here. A play on the short hand for trenbolone. Kind of cute until I noticed the N was missing the full stop and that just irritated me. Also, eat and nutrition ARE THE SAME THING.

Everyday I pass this monstrosity and it makes my blood boil.

Spoiler:

I agree with both of you but @Wayno 's gripe in particular certainly is one I enjoy daily.

RE: MGF's Official Rant Thread - Shyne-Bryght - 12-04-2026

Would love to discuss the finer points of that gripe but I've gotta catch my tren.
