I understand. I'm avoiding the use of the MSF sneaking suit and battle dress until my second playthrough for similar reasons.

I have no love for the piss filter. MGS3 was a gnarly game because of it - especially the original, very very muddy. Higher definition might make it more enjoyable but we’ll see for the second playthrough.

One thing the higher definition graphics have done that I really liked is the torture sequence is far, far more disturbing. Was genuinely tough to watch - and I really appreciate the opener of that sequence with Snake's bagged head listening to Sokolov get the shit beat out of him.

I beat my third run of this just before. I have all trophies except for the FOXHOUND title one. I might try and get it on the weekend but it always seemed daunting to me. And I never liked the idea of rushing through the game and skipping all the cutscenes and dialogue. That's why I typically dislike speedrun based trophies

Real life greatly eats into my time - I'm still not through my first run (just finished The Fury).
My muscle memory issues are still tripping me up. Sometimes it's Snake Eater, sometimes it's Phantom Pain, sometimes it's neither and no matter what I find interacting with the game can be overly awkward for me.
Sneaking is just too reliant on the damn stalking mode. I did not have to use it that often in the original, and I swear, it's so much slower here. What's the point of analog movement if even the lightest press of the stick is still too 'noisy'?
Boss fights are too easy. I can understand not wanting to change up the encounters too much, but they should have beefed up their health/stamina bars or given them longer invulnerability phases or something. The End was reasonably challenging - but I went for an MK22 battle. We'll see how a proper sniper duel goes next time.

I'm playing on hard and the stalking mode isn't that much of a problem to me tbh. You can CQC most enemies before they turn around and mess you up once you get comfortable with gauging the distance. Slam these fools to the ground, wake them up, hold them up, call it a day - or you can straight up grab them most of the time.
If you're trying to go for direct hold ups rather than off of a slam; then that's where you do need to stalk.
