Best Game Ever
#1
I consider this game to be the best game ever because of what it was able to accomplish during the era of gaming it was a part of. Incredible stealth, temperature sensitive key cards, first person missiles, drugs to calm the sniper hand, cigarettes that reveal lasers, crawling through ducts, using other controller ports to fool a boss, the list goes on. I will never for the life of me forget the experience of playing my first dual disc game and being AWESTRUCK the entire time. I'll be on my death bed and remember every moment.

played through it again just a couple days ago and it is crazy to think about how the impact of mgs1 is still felt in pretty much every single narrative-driven game today

True...

Best game ever purely for being the first to include ketchup as an item.

I agree, and it was able to accomplish so much of its plot with character models whose facial expressions couldn't even be animated. Cutscenes were carried by body language and incredible voice acting. Additionally, I'm also pleasantly surprised to go back and play the original Metal Gear and observe how many spycraft tropes they were even able to squeeze into the MSX and NES games,
