Recently, the club organiser decided to pull Wednesdays from the schedule, meaning only Sunday and Monday runs remain. Coincidentally, Monday is paid for as it's a track "coaching" session and Sundays frequently have sponsors. Basically, pulled the only session he doesn't profit from. 🤪 All this alongside a wanky manifesto about disrupting the norm and pushing boundaries.

I followed up immediately with a message basically saying I'm still doing Wednesday 10km runs, and anyone who wants should join. Got about 30 reactions lol, bricking it a bit this evening but I guess I'll be leading a break away run club on Wednesdays now...

Will let you all know how it goes tonight, and if it's disastrous or mildly successful.

How much of a norm or boundaries is there to disrupt in a running club? Seems like one of the most simple and straightforward things out there and any attempt to disrupt the norm is actually missing the point lmao

You'll be fine, you're all just there to run the same way you have been for nearly 3 years. If anything it might even be nicer if the dude was mainly doing it for profit in the end.

Ive been doing brazilian jiu jitsu for almost 9 years now - went from 6-7 training sessions a week to doing 1-2 sessions now after my son was born and gained some weight. Things really do change when you get a kid but ive signed up for a gym now thats 1 min away from me. What im starting to notice is that the older u get and the less time you have for working out and the responsibilities just keep piling up. So im trying to change my mentality from "I need to work out a minimum 60 min a day" to "im just gonna go for a quick 15-20 min run" when I can.

And to be honest the metabolism has slooooooooooowed down alot, which makes the kitchen and watching what you meat more important than actually working out. Imo it feels like its 80% dieting and 20% working out if you are trying to get in shape and be healthier. You can accomplish alot by watching what you eat. Anyways im 105kg today and working my way down to 80kg slowly but surely. Will be fun to come back to this post and see if im 150kg in a year or actually gone down!

Actually went really well! About 9 people showed up including a woman and her dog (dog wasn't even phased by the run lol) and encouraged everybody bar one to stay for a drink after. Apparently I'm great at breaking down social barriers. 😎

I did my first 30 minute run as part of the final week of Couch to 5k this morning. As it's nearing the end I thought 'hm I run quite slowly, I bet I'm not even actually doing 5k' so used one of those tracking apps and was surprised to find I actually was. 5.19k in 30 minutes apparently. I was feeling like I was cheating by not pushing my speed too much ever so I'm glad I've at least achieved what it said on the tin lmao
