What are you watching?
Finished up the second season of X-Men '97. Like the first season, it retains the overly rapid pacing - they try to cram way too much into just nine episodes and that hurts. And the behind-the-scenes drama of the showrunner's firing absolutely hamstrung the story. The first four episodes are on par with the best of the previous season, then it just gets really unfocused, incoherent. The ending is good in and of itself, but it feels like the culmination of a completely different arc than what the season started with. It's still a good show, and I'm overjoyed that one of my childhood favorites has been revived with both maturity and unabashed love for the original series. But they really, really need to have a cohesive creative vision for every season going forward. The second-to-last episode had four credited writers, and ran least than 40 minutes - way too many cooks in too small a kitchen. Also, they are severely under-using and misusing Wolverine. This should not be possible, yet they found a way.

I'd still recommend both seasons to anyone who enjoyed the original series. If you haven't, it's right there on Disney Plus (with the missing Season 3/4 episodes that were animated as part of 5 put in mostly-correct order). I think there's enough exposition for newcomers to jump in at Season 1 of '97 but you'll be missing out on the preposterous amount of story callbacks and high quality fanservice.

Ok, so I decided to give it another chance (since I don’t have anything to do snd I don’t feel like gaming). Turns I’m the one who rushed the gun. The second half of episode 2 gets better. So I’m gonna see this through and decide if it is a good series.

Just watched The Man with the Iron Fists for the first time, sober. It was made with a lot of passion, but the flaws are obvious, haha. Russell Crowe in particular was eating the scenery (among other things...). Cool to see a youngish Bautista already shining, even if he was pretty much just playing heel Batista.

I can still dimly recall watching this in the cinema when it first released, but I would've smoked up beforehand and therefore would have rated it (if Letterboxd had existed at the time, haha) much higher than it deserved.

3 stars.

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned this yet. It's a cruel jape that the UK has to wait another month for this.

Watched this today. Loved it. Pattinson is phenomenal and will rightfully get all the plaudits but Wever and Gisondo were great also. Could have done with a slightly longer run time to touch on certain things a bit more but glad I went to see it.

Saw it last Thursday! Potentially my film of the year. Pattinson cutting loose is my favourite film genre. Several moments absolutely broke my composure, especially when Hansen walks into the room after the predator asks for a Coke and he answers with "Is Pepsi OK?", absolutely cackled for like 20 seconds.

I also saw Primetime before the weekend. Been looking forward to it for a long time, thought it was very good, unsurprisingly carried by Pattinson's excellent performance along with a few others. Found it quite surreal at times especially given the way it was directed in a numbee of particular scenes. Thought the soundtrack was really good too, adore this one from the credits run.
