I’ve been working on some papier-mache catfish heads for a project I’ve been asked to be a part of. It sounds all fun and games but I’m going away for work soon so I’m running out of time to work on them and I may have to make a third when originally I thought I’d only need to make two. I’m fluctuating between massively stressed and serenely calm at an alarming rate lol

Here’s a pic of the one that’s at a state of near completion which may end up being scrapped and having to be redone:

Oh god you should really do a Kerotan head!

Just dropping a small update since I'm quite proud of myself:

Wanted to see if I had the skills so far to make a low-poly arsenal for myself to use once I get somewhere farther down the line in learning Blender. Just finished my first attempt at putting together a Portuguese-style AR-10 Carbine:

AR-10C:
Kind of amazed I pulled this off as nicely as I did. For reference, I'm trying to make some guns that look similar in style to GTA III/VC guns, so there's some acceptable roughness that I can lean into with my limited skills. Here's III's M16:
GTA III M16:
I'm gonna model the AR-10C's mag separately of course, maybe put together a little weapons crate with a few guns n mags in there soon. Having a lot of fun ripping images to turn into 256x256 textures, which is WAY higher than GTA III's weapons textures were (64x64!!) but I just love the look I've got going right now. I think next up I'm gonna try to make an MP5 chambered in 10mm:
MP5/10:

That 10mm straight mag will come out really great I think.

That's banging, Tron. You've kicked off to a great start.

Did you downscale images of the guns and use them as textures? If so, if you wanna get a crunchier look, in the shading tab change the texture sampling from Linear to Closest, that way it won't use pixel data to blur sharp edges and you'll see every pixel.

Appreciate it, brother. I don't know why I didn't sit down and dig into Blender sooner.

Thank you for the tip! And yes, I downscaled a really quality image of the actual AR-10 for this but I got lucky, right now I'm trying to create a texture set on Shoebox for the MP5 and it is definitely tricky with these more obscure lower res images.

I actually did have the shading on "closest" but this was an accident and I had no idea I had already done that, now I actually know what I did lmao so thank you.

Now I am torn. "Closest" gives me the crunchiest look by far, but "cubic" gives it a distinctly smooth, early 2000's PC game look. Looks like it could be a model from Max Payne 1.
Cubic:
Probably sticking with the "closest" one over this "cubic" variant, but man it feels so cool to be learning this stuff.
