Heart 80s currently on in the office as usual. They're being kind, we've only had Feed The World, Merry Christmas Everyone, Wonderful Christmas Time and Fairytale of New York. I do fear week commencing 15th the station will be full on Christmas or my manager will find a station that is.

FUCK I typed something out yesterday and didn't hit post. I guess I am participating in spirit. The Christmas music has started at the Target and Walgreens near me yet it's only been generic covers so far. This feels like a holiday-themed Jason Bourne movie, but instead of CIA sleeper agents it's just the sound of George Michael in the distance.
This is also an opportunity to say that I have found that Culture Beat, the Eurodance one-hit wonder group that made "Mr. Vain" is apparently making Christmas music right now to pay the bills.

I remember that day. December 2nd...8 PM. I'd entered a contest to see who could go the longest without hearing that song. I worked in hematology on Tuesdays. Not my favorite department but it had the radio in it, and day shift had set it to Christmas music. I knew I wouldn't last 8 hours; George Michael was too popular so I turned the radio down. I couldn't hear much from my work station. Just drum beats and white noise of people talking or singing. Wouldn't be able to make out the song though.
I walked by that radio close enough to hear the music three times. Holly Jolly Christmas and Jingle Bell Rock. No problem. Then thirds came in at 8. I talked them through what I'd done that day and went to help do the maintenance around the lab. Small stuff...but one task involved going to the flammable cabinet to get new stain for blood slides. The radio was on top of it. I wasn't paying attention and then my eardrums asked my brain a question: Do you hear what I hear?
No....it couldn't be. There was only a ~4ft area in the lab where you could even hear the words on the radio. For that song to be playing at that time...I couldn't believe it. I pulled my phone out to confirm it wasn't a cover...only to be met with Google pulling George Michael's face. I'd been Wham-bushed.
