Apparently Better Man is actually an excellent film, but it sadly bombed due to Robbie Williams having the audacity to not be famous in America, and so Americans refused to watch it out of spite.

I've got back from camping in the Peak District and although it was beautiful and a fun trip, I'm keen to never see a tent ever again in my fucking life.

Weather forecast suddenly changed the day after we arrived to be constant rain and gale force winds, winds so powerful if snapped one of our tent poles straight down the middle and began collapsing on us at 4am. 😭 Nothing a healthy amount of sleep deprived applied duct tape couldn't "fix" (we didn't get any sleep for the remaining nights lmao)

That reminds me, there's gonna be a concert featuring the music of Death Stranding at the Sydney Opera House later on this year. I thought about going but something about DS' soundtrack doesn't really grab me

I'll look into that! Was expecting a few to be going. Will PM you for details and see if my life/kids can allow such a pilgrimage.

I scraped together a group to go and see it just before it left cinemas because we weren't about to miss the cinematic event of the year and it turned out, unbeknownst to us, we'd bought tickets to a screening hosted by a film club so before the film this French woman spoke to everyone in the screen saying about how much she loved the film and how this would be her third time watching it. She also asked everyone to join her for a group discussion on the film afterwards which of course we all attended. We ended up spending an hour chatting about it with a room of strangers. One older guy was very unimpressed with the film and called it 'simplistic' to which I replied 'simplistic? uhh he's a monkey?' Eventually he got quite exasperated and was just like 'you all love Robbie Williams!?'

I think the film was a joy to watch with a group like that. Whether that's for the reasons the director intended I don't know. The monkey schtick gets more and more outrageous and eventually provides a scene that is so wild to see in a Robbie Williams biopic that you can't help but be impressed. Half of us fucked with it, half of us thought it was shite, but I'll say this: if the film was any better it would have been worse.
