Nintendo Switch 2 Thread

It looks like it’s going to launch in June officially, strap in folks.

What do you want to see from it? I hold out faint hope for a trophy system but I doubt it’ll come.

I'm v excited for the proper reveal. I hope it feels on par with the Switch reveal Direct. That was a real moment as a Nintendo fan, especially after the Wii U's promotion dropped the ball so hard.

I'm hoping for a bit of personality to be injected back into the UI. The gimmick works! Now give the console some Nintendo charm. I'd love to see some more out there features like StreetPass or Miiverse but I feel like that would be expecting too much in the current gaming climate.

I'm desperate for any console this generation to have themes again, everything feels way too ultra-modern right now.

Honestly didn't play my Switch a lot. Asked for it for Christmas in 2017 because I was hyper-fixated on playing Super Mario Odyssey but played very little else on it in the 8 years since. Mario Kart, Tears of the Kingdom and a couple of Pokemon Gens since.

Will still clamour for the Switch 2 of course because I like shiny new toys. Trophies/Achievements would be great. Backwards compatibility would also be class. An absolute long shot, but if they had a slot where you could insert old DS/3DS cartridges, I would buy it Day 1.

I want a base console that isn't just black and a Breath Of The Wild remaster. OK the latter I don't need and probably nobody does, but I was so close to rebuying the game a few months ago and that rumour popped up so I held off as I figured a remastered Zelda title due out on release was hardly something you could say Nintendo would never do.

Also Switch Sports 2. I need that Wii boxing and Wii Sports Resort table-tennis upgrade.

Think my Switch became one of my most played systems ever, purely thanks to Smash, BOTW/TOTK and Astral Chain. Smash being 90% of that play time, consumed my life for like a year straight lmao.

Wish I sunk more time into Splatoon 2 when it was at its peak as I'm reluctant to buy 3 if Switch 2 and a new instalment is around the corner most likely, but that vyed for a tonne of my time too when there were so many legit games dropping all over that year.

For whatever reason I just couldn't get myself into Smash despite loving and having a great time playing it on WiiU, maybe I just felt like I was basically replaying the same game and wasn't bothered. It was a rough start given I had never played a brawler before and was learning from people long associated with it like Duck and Suede but I feel like I actually was able to hold my own to an extent after a few months. I'd love to see a new one on this.

TBH, I liked the idea of Switch more than I loved it. But I recognise it was an incredible console and I look forward to whatever Nintendo put out next.

So the direct today for the original Switch revealed our first new feature that will be on Switch 2 which is the ability to lend digital games to people on your family plan. Digital Games are being rebranded as Virtual Game Cards and you can send a game from your collection to a family member for 2 weeks at a time. One per family member.
Honestly a really cool thing to do during an age of gaming that’s felt quite individual focused and anti-classic practices like lending.

Also announced a long awaited follow up to a 3DS classic, slated for 2026 which likely means a Switch 2 release as well.

Metroid Prime 4 gameplay

And a very surprising announcement of a remaster of a PS2 Shin Megami Tensei spin-off (Persona’s parent series). This game looks great and I’m super happy it’ll be more readily available as the original isn’t exactly super common to find. This is the character that indirectly led to the “Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series” meme as Dante replaced him when SMT3 was localised in the west (kind of stupid but also kind of cool-they fill similar niches.)

Considering the Switch 2 direct is in less than a week this was a really strong direct. Still plenty of chaff in it but more surprises than I’d have expected.

I completely forgot about this direct. MP4 looks... like another MP game I guess? I'm happy for people that like the games but they're just not for me unfortunately.
