RE4 is a magnum opus of game design. RE2 is good. I used to be one of you muh survivol horrar folks but the simple reality is RE4 is perfect from the minute you hit start till the credits. It's low lights still place it head and shoulder over most games, especially RE4R.

I would have thought that there'd be more people like me who initially joined the forum by riding the hype wave for a specific game for like a month and then stuck around for all the very annoying cool people that were on the forum.

MGS has been incredibly consistent in quality through its history and probably only Zelda could contest it. FromSoft's lineup could too, but it's maybe too recent to put in the same conversation. I didn't expect anything else to win and i'm not even a big MGS fan. I knew Resident Evil was popular here but I had faith that intelligence would prevail. Silent Hill's omission is the biggest crime.

I didn't expect anything else to win and i'm not even a big MGS fan. I knew Resident Evil was popular here but I had faith that intelligence would prevail. Silent Hill's omission is the biggest crime.

Yeah, Silent Hill got put on my list of games I'd forgotten. If we do it again, I'm taking out MGS since it won already and probably the sports genre. SH will replace one of those. I may also include series on just one game so Bloodbourne, Clair Obscur, Undertale, Shadow of the Colossus, Return of the Obra Dinn, Subnautica, No Man's Sky, Minecraft, etc. can be added.

Anyway now that I'm at my computer, let's see my thoughts:

• I'll say I think Crash overperformed. I like Crash and it was my first video game but wow. Maybe it just got lucky with matchups.
  
• I also think Pokemon overperformed. As a series it's fun, but the basic gameplay of the mainline games hasn't really evolved (heheh) since 1998.
  
• Should also apologize to @Helikaon for MediEvil's meh performance 
  
• Soul Caliber did better than I thought it would. I expected it to lose to Kingdom Hearts in the first round.
  
• Elden Ring and Dark Souls underperformed for me. Again, might have just been bad matchups but they both lost in Round 1.
  
• I thought Civilization also did better than I initially thought it would.
  
• Star Wars was a bit generic. It was too popular not to include but they're a lot of different games in several different genres (Fallen Order, KOTOR, etc.) so I apologize for any confusion.
  
• The banner in the first post was my first ever custom graphic. Hope you liked it! It was a complete coincidence that Leon and Snake wound up on opposite sides of it.

Maybe for Halloween it could be horror game rather than franchise. That way you can pit the RE games against each, the SH games against each other and include games like The Evil Within 2, Alien: Isolation and Outlast that either don't belong to a franchise or are held down by games within the franchise that suck (like Outlast 2).

Can also get some indie-horrors in there. MouthILACKORIGINALITYASAHUMANBEING, Signalis, Crow Country etc.
