MGF Mafia I: Murders & Executions
#71
DAY 2 END - LYNCH NULL

The table declares their majority vote and Null is taken away into the night by two waiters in unreasonably large sombreros. His empty plate remains, staring at the remaining suspects. He at least got to finish his drink, a Bordeaux from Saint-Emilion. The oaky spice and black fruits take on a different note in the face of death. The rest retreat home, some loitering to plan their next actions. The authorities will identify the accused by morning.

Barcadia Restaurant, ILACKORIGINALITYASAHUMANBEINGton Heights, Manhattan, NY

The patrons are taken once again to a new location to commence the third day. The temperature has dropped this evening and the cashmere mufflers wrapped around their necks are beginning to look like nooses they've entered of their own volition. Tonight, a modern Italian-Thai restaurant of polished natural brick, clean white tablecloths, minimalist floral arrangements and discreet lighting. The table is for six this time, orders already on the table.

It becomes clear to me that my system is proving complicated for the suspects, though luck has saved them so far. I wandered the streets at night looking for signs of activity. Eventually I saw some commotion from one of the windows in 189 W 89th St, which i'm certain belongs to one of our men, though i'm unsure who. A silhouette of a man standing, with a wire or cable in hand, another seated. A light shining from a television display. I got close enough to hear the conversation.

"You like Silent Hill?"

I don't know what they're talking about because the year is 1987.

"The first game was a little on the nose for my taste as a Twin Peaks homage. But when the sequel came out in '01, it really came into its own, commercially and artistically. The whole game has a distinct audiovisual texture that really gives the atmosphere a big boost. It's been compared to Resident Evil, but I think Silent Hill has a more mature, introspective approach. In 2001, Team Silent released THIS-"

"Their undisputed masterpiece, a harrowing story of guilt and trauma that eclipsed the carnival haunted houses of its contemporaries. Most people don't pay attention to the symbolism, but they should, because its not just allegories for repressed sexual trauma, they carry theological allusions as well."

A series of screams and industrial sounding music followed and the lights went off. I leave quickly before anyone sees me at the scene and go home. After some restless dreams I wake up, check the news and to my surprise, the authorities have already, supposedly, identified the victims.

Dang. And here I was hoping to start a lynch train on Duck purely because of the Day 1 No Lynch opt and the fact that "Lady in Red" was the tape of a Mafiosi (baseless accusation surrounding the red username, or based af accuracy?)

Still glad we've got a criminal body DUMPED in the river Hudson!

Wait, we killed Null who was innocent? Duck, who was mafia, died overnight?

I'm starting to realize that I'm probably not cut out for detective work. My deductive reasoning is clearly off. Like a novice playing a party game with experienced players, I was stumbling my way through some serious ethical hoops. If I weren't some sort of 1980s cut-throat business man, my conscience would be destroying me right now. But still, I must press on. I will get this right.

How had it all gone so wrong? He had a name. And to that name, he had procured evidence in the form of music. Yet, whispers on the wind said he wasn't the guilty party. Yet, someone else was? Music.... musical. Musical theater?

"So... about (Null's character name - am I allowed to say that or not?). Did he, uh... go to... (failed French pronunciation) Less Miserablez recently? 'cause if he did... uh... I think I may know what went wrong last night."

We killed an innocent man, who used a screenshot from a TV show where the character is implied to be the literal Devil incarnate. 😭

So if Null was innocent, then is starschwar our next suspect since we lynched Null per his request and the fact he was one out of four people to investigate you @Jassassino?

Yeah we may as well lynch Starschwar on account of him pointing the finger to Null, unless he has a stellar explanation

I'll wait to see if he has one, but taking out both mafia by Day 3 would be impressive.

I'm still interested in our silent friends: Dep, st3ve, and Aragorn.

edit: you know, let's try a page.
