MGF Mafia 2.0: The Matrix

6 votes for No Lynch. 1 vote for Agent.

Day 1 has ended.
No Lynch.

Despite the operator's words few of them had the conviction to start accusing their fellow crew mates without something real to go on-even while being in the one place where such distinctions didn't really matter. The operator sighed. He wasn't sure if this was the thing to do, but their time had ran out. He remained seated and clacked on one of the keyboard for a few seconds. The phone in front of the group started ringing. As each of them picked it up they awoke, once more in the world of the real, where the Machines were about to launch another nightly attack. They all headed back to their quarters to go about their preparations.

Night. An ambiguous concept. Reality had not known sun nor stars in hundreds of years. The sky was scorched permanently, necessitating the Matrix's existence to begin with. The notion that the sky itself was once a beautiful blue is, at best, supposition. And the Sentinels were out there. They were searching. Perhaps they were closing in to doom the Pequod's crew. In other words: It was going to be a typical night.

The crew assembled once more on the cold deck of the Pequod. The operator was already sat in his seat. There was something in the air, and it wasn't just the usual damp. Nobody mentioned the Sentinel attack the night before-not how they had sliced their way into the hull, nor how one of their own had died defending the ship against them. And nobody mentioned how the area attacked was precise enough to indicate that the Sentinel had a target, and that they knew where the target's room was on the ship. The traitors weren't just leading the Machines here to kill them, they were deciding who died first. They all knew this without so much as a word. The Captain nodded at the crew and sat down in his chair. The rest followed suite. Once more the operator prepared them...and jacked them in.

The cold, wet air of the Pequod blew hot as the group found themselves somewhere altogether less homely. They now stood on carpeted tiles, between rows of identical grey booths illuminated by the cold, clinical glow of the light boxes in the dropped ceiling above them. One of the lights was buzzing faintly, like a mosquito in your ear that you can't seem to spot. One of the desk phones began to ring, the crewmate nearest pressed a button and the operator's voice played through the speaker: "Okay guys, take two. I understand why you decided what you did yesterday, but last night shows we can't survive by waiting this out. Whoever these guys are, they are holding all the cards. Which means that sooner or later, someone is going to have to fight them. You've had your time to think, now it's time to fight. Let me know when you've come to a decision." The phone clicked and they were left alone, just them and the constant buzz.

All things considered this was probably the prospect with least damage, if went the lynch route we would have likely been out 2 guys.

I have some gut feelings but I’ll keep them to see if anyone learned anything valuable.

None the wiser on anything. Only interesting interaction yesterday was Agent and Annoying Prick talking percentages (was that the only interaction?)

Nothing solid to go on right now. Does anyone have any info from the night phase?

I agree, we made the right call.

"We lost Null. And as much as his coding could have come in handy - we can't just start shooting each other, either. Paranoia, mutual distrust - these are also the Machines' weapons. What we need are facts. Pronto. And from the facts, we must formulate a plan. I told you before, this isn't a Detective Story. My investigatory skills are unremarkable. I have no new information to provide. But if anyone has anything, we can assemble the facts and come up with a course of action. We can't let the Machines whittle us down like this. Come on, People. Share your findings. We owe it to Null. And each other."
