Let's talk Platinums

Question for people who get platinum. Do you guys just use guides or try to figure it out yourselves? And does the time it takes to platinum something affect your wanting to platinum?

I sometimes use guides, it depends. Platinum time has no bearing on anything for me. I'll platinum a game if i really like it and enjoy it, so time sink is not an issue. If anything the longer it is the better.

My opinion isn't probably what you're looking for as I'm not a trophy hunter usually, but my last two have been huge timesinks. MGS4 I kind of just wanted to do to say I did it, would never do it again. But FFVII Rebirth I loved so like Henry, the time wasn't a consideration, I loved almost everything in the game to do it.

Most I've done needed guides to an extent, Clair Obscur probably an exception. But I try to avoid them. Plus any action RPGs I find guides can only get you so far, stuff like Rebirth or KH2 have lots of battles that require a lot of skill and ability to adapt. You can try do exactly as someone on a video does but at high difficulty levels with deep combat systems it's basically impossible that a fight will go exactly as you want it to

Kinda depends. Like on a long game like RDR2, i rather use a guide, at least for missable stuff. If trophy description is helpful enough, i can get stuff without guide.

length of a platinum doesn't stop me, if i feel, i can get it.

1. I'll do one playthrough of a game where I try and find all the collectibles and figure it out for myself, but then use a guide for repeat playthroughs. 

2. Depends on whether I feel like the timesink is respecting my time or not. A 100 hour game where every minute is a joy is fine, but if you're asking me to grind by collecting 1000 collectibles or kill 10000 enemies then I'm not going to entertain it.

I see, I have a hard time with doing platinum because it eventually starts to feel like a job after a while and the enjoyment of seeing the trophy ding loses appeal fast for me. But I'm glad you guys are able to preserve where I fail
