Look at how many people have already forgotten about "SignalGate", or, more importantly, that Trump just straight up bombed innocent civilians in Yemen. Didn't even last two weeks because there's always something new and horrible happening, and even the pain of these tariffs will be forgotten by voters sooner or later. So even if democrats take over in 2026 and in 2028, I would bet that it's not going to be actual, transformative progressives taking over, but more status quo warriors like my dear publicity-seeking governor, Greasy Gavin. None of them have the will or desire to finally stop arming and funding monsters like Netanyahu or the Saudi Prince. Nor do they have the desire to actually address the issues back home. And because the establishment liberals only want to do incremental change, voters will get dissatisfied and immediately vote republicans back into power.
It's going to take someone with policies that are actually transformative, like raising the minimum wage to a living wage, genuinely punishing price gougers and restoring a robust middle class to finally break this cycle of nonsense. But so long as the establishment has its way, that's never gonna happen.
My hope is that, come 2028, either AOC or Tim Walz is our nominee because they're the only ones with the records and rhetoric of actually doing good by people. But anyone else, and it's just a bandaid, and not even really that, since most establishment dems are almost as bad on foreign policy as the right is.
I'm honestly past the point of giving the people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the status quo, in that people ''don't know'' or are being swung around like a baseball bat with no agency. The American consciousness knows, and is well aware of what America is. Most are either some form of content or apathetic. Democrats don't have their hands tied either; people often say that the Dems constantly try to play ball while the republicans do what they want and it's because they are closer in goal and agenda than they are painted as. America has no left, not even a true center (centralism in politics is bullshit anyways but different subject).
There is no solution within the establishment.

America is currently fucked. The democrats need to grow up, have a voice, and stand for something. We're on a very dark timeline rn and RIP my 401k.

There's an election coming up in Australia in the next few weeks. One of the candidates, Peter Dutton, is pretty much a massive Trump ass kisser who wants to do a similar thing in Aus that Trump is doing in the US. The dude's been around for a while but this is the closest he's been to being PM. Very scary times indeed...

The US has always been inherently fascist but the shift in the past 10 years to open demagoguery has enabled other countries to follow suit with ease in terms of messaging and openly reactionary platforms e.g Australia, UK. We're all in a bottomless spiral bro god knows what things look like on the other side.

I made close to 500 calls for Bernie back in 2020. This was after I sweated my balls off and almost passed out from dehydration marching around Manhattan in full body armor. And when I saw that go nowhere, to me the writing was on the wall. Not that Bernie was going to make America not-fascist, but I truly believed enough "normalcy" could be restored that we'd march some of the right wing extremism backwards. He would do just enough for the American Working Class that some of the worst among us would go back to mindlessly buying shit instead of pointing their fingers at brown and black people. The Democratic corporate octopus had its chance to prevent the worst from coming, but polite fascists are still just that.
I still greatly appreciate people like Departed actively engaging in harm reduction where they can. But at this point, I personally don't have anymore room for navy blue suit-clad background characters from the show The West Wing trying to get my vote with their dorky little fuckin American flag pins on the lapel.
I don't mean to be unnecessarily crude and inflammatory, but they had YEARS to do something to prevent this and did nothing, so each and every one of them can go screw themselves imho.
Trump said he's going to gladly send Americans to the El Salvador death camp. Right now average Americans should be preparing to directly prevent their own deportations, by any means necessary, and stop worrying about electoral votes and caucus numbers and whatever bullshit. Ending up there is a fate worse than death, being gunned down in the street by ICE is a better solution than whatever El Presidente Numnuts has in store for you.
I'm sorry for all the gross language, I'm just scared outta my fuckin gourd rn.

Reform UK won a seat near-ish me in a local by-election this morning. A seat that Labour won by over 14,000 votes just under a year ago.
Not gonna lie, I am deeply concerned.

Yeah, that is nuts.
The way Reform swept local elections is super concerning to be honest.

The UK's swing to the right is both concerning and deeply unsurprising. I still remember in 2014 one of the reasons I voted yes in the Scottish Indy Referendum was because I could see the UK (England especially) swinging to the right, and I didn't want to be part of it. Maybe we'd be screwed no matter what we did, but there seemed to at least be a chance of escaping it.
In regards to current events in the ME, one of the reasons MGSF came back into mind was that I had a bit of a run in with a member in the DC private chat because I made a pretty broad/blunt statement of condemnation towards Israel for what happened in 2014. UN peacekeepers needed to be on the ground as soon as October 7th happened, because it was pretty clear the direction that Bibi and his government were going to go in...

Old MGSF was overrun with bootlicking mongrels for the settler colony. Even when I was far less politically literate it stuck out like a sore thumb how even bleeding heart liberals would suddenly take pretty hard line stances on Israel (funny enough, one of them turned into a full blown fascist). In general most discourse around the Middle East is functionally illiterate because everyone either believes in divide & conquer federalism or plain imperialism dressed in blue or red.
Palestine has been and always will be a moral and ethical compass and the battleground to end battlegrounds in the fight against global imperialism and western hegemony; and for all that has transpired since October 7 it was at least made it clear to the naked eye that there are no middle grounds.

I'd be curious to know who went full fash (in the unlikely event I actually remember who they were). In the incident I referenced, the core of the issue was that someone was Jewish-American - so I think they interpreted the comment I made as being antisematic - when it absolutely wasn't. There was no reference to Judaism or the Jewish people in anything I said. tl;dr I wasn't booted from the org, although things were a wee bit frosty in the org chat for awhile as far as I remember.
But yeah...I find it fucking wild that the centrist MSM are still parroting this line of 'Israel has a right to defend itself.' I'm UK based and I can't listen to the BBC's coverage because it's utterly spineless. I mean The Pod Save World (former Obama staffer, so...y'know, basically neolibs) guys have been far stronger in calling out Israel, Bibi and the far right wing government than the 'impartial' BBC have been. Mind you, when you've got a human rights lawyer who can't call out human rights abuses you've not got much chance of your government acting on or your media reporting on, y'know, war crimes, acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing.
