Gigs, Concerts, Festivals etc.

Bostin'! 'Course you are!

I'm down in Oxfordshire now, so normally have to venture either back up to Brum or down to London for anything juicy. Completely agree with Wolves Civic too -- surprising the acts they pull in there!

Have a bloody top time in Brum as well. If you get time for grub before hand, highly recommend Bonehead!

Cursed with being between the two cities. Still, it sounds like an upgrade to me!

Gigs down in London are usually next level but cost an arm and a leg with travel/accommodation. Haven't been down there in years.

Thanks man! I had a quick google and those burgers look incredible! Not sure if we'll have chance tomorrow but I'll definitely keep it in mind for the next time.

How much would getting down to London and back cost you? I've seen crazy stuff about train prices over there, one way trips from the north coming to around £100 in places. Don't get me wrong it's a lot of hassle but I just went over to London 2 weeks ago for a night but the flights over and back came to €35 and hotel was €60. If I wanted to get a train an hour's drive away from me it'd be about €60 return and don't get me started on the hotel prices. Genuinely is cheaper to go to the UK for a night or short break away than it is to go a couple of hours away here.

To be honest the train to London isn't too bad, I had a quick look just and can get a train from Birmingham New Street To London Euston for £9 at the cheapest rate - which is mad because it costs £6.50 for me to get into Birmingham from Stourbridge - so based on that probably about £30 there and back which seems miles cheaper than I remember actually, but it's still crazy that your flights over and back work out about the same!

So...uh...saw Pulp on Saturday evening? Very fucking good - still an awesome live band. It does help with longevity when your front man could barely sing to begin with.

Had a chill day today after going to Download Festival on Friday and managing to (somehow, after running a half marathon a few days prior?) sprint to the barrier and get a spot for myself and my girlfriend to watch SIM, CKY, Boston Manor, Rise Against, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World and Green Day. All of the acts were honestly phenomenal and really enjoyed the day. CKY came up to the barrier and had a chat with audience members so casually and had a quick convo with the lead. They played '96 Quite Bitter Beings and introduced it by asking "Who here plays Tony Hawk's Pro Skater?" lmao.

Of the lot, I think Jimmy Eat World were my favourite, great set and such a good live band. Really enjoyed Green Day but I missed a whole song explaining Star Wars lore to my brother pretty much (Idk seemed important...)

Following day went to Lido primarily for Charli XCX, weaved a chunky way into the crowd and it was electric. Great time. Shattered now though tbh.

Excuse the double post, but who has tickets for what this year?

I've already seen Frank Turner do Show 3000 in February (followed by Dave Hause the day after I got back!), Manic Street Preachers and Brooke Combe in April and Pulp last week. I'm seeing a punk band called The Meffs in September, Frank Turner doing a four day festival in September before seeing The Enemy, The Lottery Winners, Ash and Simon & Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene in November.

(Also still hoping to get Oasis tickets, I stay near one of the venues they're doing multiple shows so it might still be doable if anything's released day last minute).

Picked up Hobo Johnson tickets on a whim last week as they were cheap and he hasn’t been over here in years, that’s next month. Then a long drought until the MGS orchestra in November

So I never got to see Ghost due to unforseen circumstances.

Last month I saw Mclusky and they are just one of my favourite acts to see repeatedly. I know of no other artist who brings such intensity, passion and solid grade B comedy material to every show.

Tonight is TV on the Radio. Their only UK show before they play Glastonbury tomorrow. Not listened to them in ages but this is a show for Young Wayne and he'll love it. Bonus that it's at my second favourite venue in Manchester (Albert Hall).

Next month I'm seeing a Weezer tribute act because I 1. It's cheap 2. I needed a valid reason not to go to the London summer party if our office was invited. We weren't. Because London is full of cunts.

Then the same week I'm seeing FIDLAR. A fun, one dimensional garage rock band but they're fun and I need fund at this moment in time. Bonus that it's at my favourite venue in Manchester (Gorilla).

Went to Eisteddfod in Llangollen yesterday where KT Tunstall was performing. Was never a huge fan of her back in the day when she had a few hits, but she's got a belter voice live. Backed by an orchestra as well, so was a surprisingly enjoyable performance.
