Gigs, Concerts, Festivals etc. - Wayno - 04-04-2025

What's coming up on everyone's dance card then?

I saw Green Lung back in Feb and they were fantastic. They'll be headlining Download in the near future.

I've got Ghost in 11 days and McLusky next month. This morning I've snagged tickets to see FIDLAR and ticket for King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard who are doing a rave set (I'd prefer the Orchestra but that's London only). I also want to want to see TV on the Radio. Immense band who fell out of my rotation for some reason.

I’m going to see Basement Jaxx in August which should be great. I’ve wanted to see them for years and it’s their first live show in like 10 years or something so I’m stoked for that.

Trying to get tickets for Deftones and NIN but both are sold out. Maybe a miracle will happen cause I’d love to see both.

TVOTR are coming here soon, saw them so many years ago at a festival and they were great, dropped off listening to them in recent years but Wolf Like Me still gets a listen.

I've unfortunately dropped away from gigs since covid. I've had tickets to a lot but I've ended up selling them on in most cases. Maybe I spent too many years queuing up from early morning to get to the front of the pit, maybe it's just age slowing me down one bit /Colonel. I'm still going to see orchestras and stuff like that but sadly I do feel a bit of a hole with this but I struggle to fix it. I do have The Horrors lined up in November at a venue that is easy for me to get to and out of that I haven't visited before so I hope it might pick me up. I feel like with my 3-4hrs daily commute and long work hours and being a dad that I just don't have the energy for really long trips to gigs and then having to find transport so this should help.

Also have Hans Zimmer again in November and Oasis in the summer. I was looking at selling the tickets for the latter but I'll see. In truth Leelee hasn't been able to go to, well really anything with me in recent years so I think that's why I've become apathetic. But I'll hope she can be fit to finally go to Zimmer with me after 2 failed attempts.

Hans Zimmer would be sick.

Not got any gigs booked in currently, but contemplating taking my toddler to 2000trees festival to see how he gets on. I want to relive my emo days (it was never a phase) watching Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria.

My emo days have never left me. Would still drop everything for a Paramore show and am listening to the likes of Jimmy Eat World regularly.

Legend.

Jimmy also one of my all time favourites. 'Futures', 'Bleed American' and 'Clarity' are outrageously good albums.

Never got into Paramore as much as I probably should have though.

Was waiting for this inevitable thread from you, Wayno.

Next Saturday I'm going to see Kurtis Conner do a stand-up set, who my girlfriend and I enjoy watching the YT videos of lol. Honestly they've probably been the hardest tickets to cop in a while, sold out nearly instantly.

Coming up I've got Download Festival's Friday date so I can finally see Jimmy Eat World live (I say finally - I've only got into them the past 3 years or so but they've had a tonne of shows near me on dates I've always just so happened to be busy on), Lido Festival with Charli XCX headlining the following day and booked Gaga for a London date the other day.

Oh that will definitely be a good one, agreed on the preference but still hype.

Hoping you'll be going and hoping for Leelee's health to be steady and well for it. 💖 Zimmer would be wonderful to see.

RE: Gigs, Concerts, Festivals etc. - Gene - 06-04-2025

I’m heading to see Lebrock in Birmingham on Wednesday which should be a great night. I saw them in Nottingham last year after spending all day in the goth bar but being a Wednesday this time I’m hoping to remember more of them this time round!

Got tickets for falling in reverse’s tour for whenever they sort their visas out, hoping this one doesn’t get cancelled all together really as it’s already been postponed.

Where you from again Gene? Are you from/around Brum? I can't remember.

I do miss being around Brum for gigs - so many good bands between the O2s/NIA (or whatever shite they call it nowadays).

Friday is an absolute treat of a lineup for Download. Green Day / Weezer / Jimmy / Rise Against is maaaad.

Black Country ay IIIIII!

Yeah Brum is definitely great for gigs. I haven't actually seen a gig in Birmingham in years though - mostly because I stopped going for years - so tomorrow is breaking my Brum cherry all over again.   Wolverhampton is great as well, seen a load of incredible bands at Wolves Civic.
