Welcome to Ravenswood Bluff! Home of Blood on the Clocktower. A social deduction game set in the town of Ravenswood Bluff (Ravens Would Bluff, get it?) It's a lovely day when you go out for a stroll in the town centre only to discover your beloved storyteller (me) dead! My lifeless body strewn across the clocktower. The residents (you) must unravel the mystery of who committed this heinous crime! It could only have been a demon! Why only a demon? Because the plot demands it be a demon.

**How the game works:**
We will be playing the Trouble Brewing script. It's the most beginner friendly and I love it ever so much. We can play with as few as 5 players all the way up to 25. IRL I like 7-9 players. The player types are as follows:
**Characters**
**Townsfolk:** the good guys! They use their abilities to unmask and kill the demon.
**Outsiders:** good guys, however their abilities are usually more of a hindrance than a help.
**Minions:** dastardly helpers of the Demon with abilities that will disrupt the Townsfolk from their task.
**Demon:** Must be killed by the Townsfolk in order to win.
**Outsiders:** good guys, however their abilities are usually more of a hindrance than a help.
**Minions:** dastardly helpers of the Demon with abilities that will disrupt the Townsfolk from their task.
**Demon:** Must be killed by the Townsfolk in order to win.
I have been killed and the Townsfolk must use their unique abilities and deduction skills to uncover who amongst them masquerading as an innocent Townsfolk has perpetrated this heinous crime. The demon is not alone and will be aided by one of their powerful minions. A list of characters and their abilities is in the spoiler tag at the end of the post. I am happy to elaborate further if needed.
The Townsfolk must kill the demon in order to win. If the demon is still alive with only two alive players the evil team wins.
There is a set ratio of Townsfolk/Outsiders/Minions/Demons depending on how many players we have. E.g. 5 players is 3 Townsfolk, 0 Outsiders, 1 Minion, 1 Demon.
| Players | Townsfolk | Outsiders | Minions | Demons |
|---------|-----------|-----------|---------|--------|
| 5 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 1 |
| 6 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| 7 | 5 | 0 | 1 | 1 |
| 8 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| 9 | 5 | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| 10 | 7 | 0 | 2 | 1 |
It's not mentioned on the sheet for some reason, but the asterisk denotes this nightly ability does not happen on the first night.
Characters:
**Phases**
The game takes place with day and night phases. Before the game starts everyone will be given their randomly assigned roles. During the first night the relevant Townsfolk will be given the information their role requires and the Evil team will be told who the other team members are and given three bluffs of which characters are not in play. This will be handled by PM with me.
During the day phase you can use this thread to discuss, ruminate, cast wild aspersions, deflect, lie through your teeth and most importantly, nominate. You do not have to nominate every day and sometimes it makes sense not to nominate.
From the second night onwards the Demon kills a player each night — and their target isn't limited to Townsfolk. Other roles with recurring night abilities also activate during this phase.
**Nominations**
You can only nominate once per day phase and you can only be nominated once per day phase. You can vote as many times as you like. Dead players cannot nominate (but you can get someone to nominate on your behalf). Dead players get only one vote for the rest of the game so use it wisely.
When a player is nominated the nominator will say why they have nominated the individual, the nominated will have a chance to plead their case (or even agree with it) and then votes are cast. To be put up "on the block" the vote must equal or pass the threshold of at least half the alive player count (but dead votes do count here). Once on the block the player will be executed unless someone else is nominated and receives more votes. However, the next vote will require 1 more vote to put the new nominee on the block. An equal amount of votes will result in a tie and no one executed.
**Death**
Just because you are dead does not mean your game is over, unless you're the demon, obviously. Your unique ability is now gone, however you can still discuss and participate in getting to the bottom of this horrific crime. Death isn't always bad. Death is usually information and information is key.
**Logistics**
I've never seen this run on a forum before so how long each day phase runs for is probably entirely dependent on how many people are playing and how active they are. A day phase usually ends after an execution. Or if the town decides not to execute / tie. This is going to be a learning curve for us all and there will potentially be storyteller mistakes. But you're all Mafia experts I'm sure this will go swimmingly especially if I can keep it moving. Also I've noticed a Mafia private chat, not sure if that can be used for this. I think PM and in thread is fine but you guys being more experienced with forum based deduction games can advise.
I'm happy to discuss all mechanical questions in the chat for clarification during game for the benefit of others. Or just hypothetical questions like, "Can the demon kill themselves" or "how is killing a townsfolk going to help us win, that seems counter intuitive. " etc. Or in private should you choose. I'm also happy to discuss this before a game is initiated.
Post here if you're interested.
