If I'm honest though, I'd much rather have more single player-centric bonus modes like Monkey and Bomberman. Something that won't eventually go away when Konami shuts down the servers. Such as creating a whole slew of Extra Ops-esque missions like what Peace Walker had but for MGSDSE. Those are the kinds of things I almost never get bored of, and provide a bit more incentive to jump back into a game I've beaten as opposed to multiplayer.
I definitely wouldn't object because I love MGO games, but it's not high on my wishlist for this game at all.
I think game preservation is obviously important but I do also think there's something to be said for the life cycle of an online mode. Some of the keenest senses of nostalgia I see in gaming come from that lightning in a bottle feeling of playing online with friends regularly. I think with LAN support (something ALL online modes should have) it would be very worthwhile. Plus with SaveMGO it's apparent that fans will find a way to make things live forever regardless.
That being said I think some Extra Ops or Snake Tales type things would fit in really nicely in Delta. Maybe the best way to include MGSV lore without affecting the MGS3 experience would be including something like XOF Ops that take place during Operation Snake Eater. Play as Skullface, maybe even include some co-op missions with other XOF troopers to still add that multiplayer element. Would be really neat imo.
