Metal Gear Online returning in Delta - Dirty Duck - 26-05-2025 So there's some small rumblings on Twitter about whether Metal Gear Online could be included in Delta. Some promotional material for it and Legacy Collection Part 2 has mentioned MGO, or used MGO music, and there's not been any showing of Delta's modes as of yet. What do we think? Could you see MGO coming back in some capacity? Would you be excited for it? If you're on the fence about picking up Delta would its inclusion be a deal breaker? Is there anything you'd like them to add if it were to come back? I personally want to believe. I didn't think we'd see Snake vs Monkey back and yet here we are. Every company wants a 'live service' style game right now (as we've seen with PlayStation's disastrous tactic of throwing dozens into development in the hopes one does well) and maybe KONAMI see reintroducing MGO as their way to eventually get that. MGO3's support was cut short by the MGSV drama and as far as I know they don't have any big multiplayer experiences with much microtransaction potential so who knows? I had a lot of fun with MGO2 and MGO3 during the time I played them and I never got to give MGO1 a try. I personally think its inclusion would justify Delta's price tag considerably. RE: MGO return in Delta? - NateDog - 26-05-2025 I'd love it but I just don't believe or expect it. I'm assuming any mention of online connectivity is probably to do with leaderboards and little else. It'd be a great starting point but, well we'll see. Maybe MGO2 on the Legacy Collection Vol 2 would make more sense given it was later sold as a separate package on a disc in some regions, I'd happily pay for it as an extra download or individual purchase. RE: MGO return in Delta? - Dirty Duck - 26-05-2025 I do feel like a straight port for Legacy Collection would definitely be less work but then again part of the original MGO was that it was able to reuse a lot of existing assets right? Maybe Delta Online isn’t THAT crazy to think about when Snake vs Monkey uses a lot more original models at the very least. I’m aware this is wishful thinking on my part. On some level I do miss the era of online modes in single player games. Feels very much like games are now one or the other. I think one of the bigger workarounds would be the godawful Konami ID system. Thing is as well, they released a fair few DLC packs for MGO2 so they might feel that they'd be losing out on selling it all as one package so maybe Subsistence's MGO does make more sense. I'm down for it either way, I'm just not sure how hopeful I am on it. RE: MGO return in Delta? - Departed - 27-05-2025 MGO1 was my favorite Metal Gear Online experience, so I wouldn't mind it returning, provided that it had a little more going for it in terms of modes, character customization and what not. If I'm honest though, I'd much rather have more single player-centric bonus modes like Monkey and Bomberman. Something that won't eventually go away when Konami shuts down the servers. Such as creating a whole slew of Extra Ops-esque missions like what Peace Walker had but for MGSDSE. Those are the kinds of things I almost never get bored of, and provide a bit more incentive to jump back into a game I've beaten as opposed to multiplayer. I definitely wouldn't object because I love MGO games, but it's not high on my wishlist for this game at all. I think game preservation is obviously important but I do also think there's something to be said for the life cycle of an online mode. Some of the keenest senses of nostalgia I see in gaming come from that lightning in a bottle feeling of playing online with friends regularly. I think with LAN support (something ALL online modes should have) it would be very worthwhile. Plus with SaveMGO it's apparent that fans will find a way to make things live forever regardless. That being said I think some Extra Ops or Snake Tales type things would fit in really nicely in Delta. Maybe the best way to include MGSV lore without affecting the MGS3 experience would be including something like XOF Ops that take place during Operation Snake Eater. Play as Skullface, maybe even include some co-op missions with other XOF troopers to still add that multiplayer element. Would be really neat imo. RE: MGO return in Delta? - NateDog - 04-06-2025 Holy shit it's happening!??? RE: MGO return in Delta? - NateDog - 04-06-2025 Cannot explain how excited this makes me. I wish this was coming out like a month earlier so I could sit on it all summer. Fuck the main game I just want this now! RE: MGO return in Delta? - Dirty Duck - 04-06-2025 And to think you doubted me, Nate! For anyone who didn’t see watch at 1:23: Yeah I’m getting Delta now. RE: Metal Gear Online returning in Delta - Departed - 05-06-2025 Despite what I said, I'm definitely excited for Metal Gear Online to come back now that I know it's happening. I hope the customization is more akin to Survive than MGO3. Say what you will about that game, it had the best cosmetic options of any MGO game to date. I'm just hoping they bring back the City Map. It was my favorite map in all of MGO. |
