Just started running again this week starting on Tuesday. Been almost five years since I was running consistently. I'm 26 now and my metabolism has started slowing down and the minor gut I've cultivated shocked me back into it.
Starting easy with a little under 2 miles a day, feels great. I always hated distance running because my dad was on the cross country team in high school in the 70's, when distance running became this big health craze, and always tried to push me into it. A lot of his high school/childhood friends are ultra marathon runners. Just to spite him I joined the track team and did sprinting when I got to HS. All of a sudden though, gut or no gut, I've found that I actually really enjoy it when I go at my own pace and allow myself to walk when I feel like I'm not going to make it. Funny how that works. Weather's getting nice, combined with the running my general mental health has improved a bunch.
The area I live in isn't the best and there are very few quality gyms, so I mainly do prison workouts in my living room. Lots and lots and lots of push ups.
