MGF Mafia 2.0: The Matrix

True enough, in The Matrix Online, I used this handle for my main character, a human who aligned with The Machines. And despite some vocal opposition to certain command decisions, I remained loyal until the end. In fact, to my knowledge, I am the only player to have met The Architect more than once in live events.

However - don't treat this character and the one here as one and the same. There's two different Links after all.

The thing is - in MXO - most Machinists, myself included - we didn't play our characters as evil. We truly believed we were doing good for man and machine alike. And the Cypherites - the people who believed Cypher was right, who pulled off horrific acts of murder and sabotage - they were perhaps my greatest enemies. I knew Duck did his research - terms like "Lightning Rifle" originated in MXO and persist on wikis. My character has an article on one or two, but it is an abbreviated and... biased synopsis. I was waiting for someone to look that up and use that as evidence against me, which would have been pretty funny! But I'm honestly more comforted that I wasn't subjected to research as well.


Anyway. This has been an absolute blast. A trip down memory lane to one of my favorite universes, and my favorite game of all time (Snake Eater is a worthy second place!). I don't know who's running the next one or when it will be or what the theme is (I have suggestions!), but I'm already looking forward to Mafia 3.0.
