Would you guys want orgs back?
#11
My initial thought is "no". I felt like orgs worked tremendously on MGSF to create relationships and rivalries, but all of us that are currently here already have that sense of camaraderie and community and I don't know what orgs would achieve at this stage.

If there's a surge of newbies that join and this place becomes a real hub of activity, then I could change my mind. But secret, exclusive clubs felt way cooler when I was 13 than they do now at 32.

I'm had a chat with Duck and think that an idea of just maybe 2/3/4 small and simple organisations isn't a bad idea but not in the vein of what MGSF had, not yet at least. Not with something that actually divides the forum up (so no PFs) but something small and simple, just a button under your name or a small logo or icon related to it next to your avatar. I think it's a nice way of harbouring gentle joking between people again in that manner and can also be an enticement for newbies to get involved more. Keep it the way it was before, minimum 100 posts to get into one but no application, just picking one. Having it themed gets people more involved or excited about it.

The buttons are half the appeal I support this proposal.

I honestly don't mind PFs either - but the size of the community probably doesn't support it. I think once we're comfortably at MGSF activity levels pre-Ground Zeroes we'd be in a good spot to restart the war machine again.

Can't beat a completely random bit of flaming.

On one hand, they were a great driver of activity. Honestly after the hype for MGSV died down they were the only real driver of activity. The drama could be hilarious. As seen in the image vault thread, the graphics could be killer.

On the other hand, I think we get a better sense of community with not. That is something Kal got right on MGL I think. PFs were great but I know some members would withdraw into them and never post anywhere else, XOF was really guilty of that.
