Truthfully I should have just instituted a hardline no politics rule from the get go instead of taking it as it came, that’s on me for putting more trust into this community than I should have. I considered Charlie Kirk to be a political enemy, and said some pretty nasty things about him while he was alive. Any decent person would reconsider those things when they see him shot dead. If you don't, you've made yourself a spiritual cripple. The world is going to be a much worse place if we only have compassion for those who share our political identity. Maybe that's why Jesus told us to love our enemy.

It looks like Charlie was beginning to change his mind on the Israel issue, as is the west as a whole. Perhaps if leftists didn't use overly dramatic language for every issue they discuss, people would have come around sooner. It's a crying wolf type situation. People aren't going to listen if you call everything "fascist" this and "genocide" that for decades. It is an actual genocide and the Israeli state in its entirety is illegitimate. This is not a point of discussion, it is denial of reality and settler propaganda to state otherwise.

Kirk was an idealogical mercenary and a grifter. He started turning tide because the audience started to turn much like Carlson - but that does not exonerate him from the years and years of damage that he has incited on various groups and people.

It is perfectly acceptable to have no compassion for abhorrent people. Your politics are a reflection of your moral compass and your personhood, and you are not owed the compassion that you don’t reserve for others.

Kirk has been an active proponent of white supremacy, gender inequality, regressive social hierarchy and imperial warhawks. These stances do not exist in a vacuum. They do actively harm people.

We cannot all hold hands and sing along because the other side actively wants to see you broken and disenfranchised, or even worse.

Centrist liberalism will try to find middle ground with a group actively willing to fight for their version of the world, and then act surprised when violence escalates.

He advocated for a white Christian America and actively positioned minorities as a threat to that twisted way of living. You can play on semantics all you like, Kirk was a white supremacist and a fascist. TPUSA is similarly a fascist organization.

I don't advocate for an exclusively white Christian America, but to say that white christianity would be a twisted way of living is also whacko. White people aren't bad, and Christianity is not bad.
