Update 1.0: Codenames, Likes, Twitter

Hello everyone! That's weekend number 1 down! I'm sure the existence of this internet message board enriched your weekend and you're hungry for more so here's some updates:

||NEW THEME||
We have our first new theme! I say more about it in the topic so be sure to go and have a look and leave some feedback. I'll add a theme based on a game chosen by the community as a reward for hitting our first forum goal, so if you want to stop me from adding the Metal Gear Survive theme next you gotta POST POST POST!

||CODENAMES||

I'm sure you all got a little peek at these when that PM error was occurring. I disabled them while figuring that out but now that it's ironed out it's time they debut. If you look at the bottom of my postbit there you'll (hopefully) see this little guy:

 

That's the Chick codename, awarded for making your first post. You all should have this codename yourself already. Have a look and let me know if you haven't!

 

There's a bunch of codenames that can be acquired for various things. I'll be introducing them slowly to make sure that they all work as intended but the idea is to encourage members to make full use of the boards. You can choose the codename you want to display on your postbit from this page. 

 

I'm tempted to not necessarily state in black and white the criteria for being awarded each codename, just leave the somewhat vague descriptions. I feel like this will give them a similar feel to how mysterious some codenames are in the series and would encourage members to discuss the codenames they've unlocked as well as perhaps lead to some slight urban legend-ness and speculation around the rarer ones? Please speak now if you think that sounds silly! I'll take it with humility, I swear! 

(adds the 'Stupid Fucking Idiot' codename to assign to anyone who thinks that's silly)

 

||LIKES||

As many of you have already noticed the boards already had a 'Rate' feature built in. I've implemented a more traditional 'Like' feature in addition to that. I may remove the Rate feature in the future but for now we'll see how they coexist. Let me know if you have any problems! No dislike for now because we're focusing on #PMA but if we want it I may add it.

I've added twitter embeds. This is done with the BBCode:

R.E Ghost Babel theme, when viewing on mobile using it, spoilers can't be seen when opened unless highlighted because they're black text on a black background. Fixed in Dark Mode for my browser but just as an FYI.

This is actually a reference to how Snake is “kept in the dark” during that mission by his superiors.

I'm having issues with the new theme when I post, I can't scroll across the page, so when I open the post page I can't scroll right but when the page automatically moves right as I type more words it means I can't go far enough left when I'm finished to hit the "post reply" button, I have to hit "preview post" first which opens up a new page.

Will look into it when I’m at a computer. Cheers Nate.

EDIT: for the mean time, putting your phone in landscape mode shows everything you need. May be faster than pressing preview for you. Will look into figuring out a proper solution tonight or tomorrow. NateDog
