Swallowing/Regurgitating Cigarettes - Is This Possible?
#21
I'm so happy this ridiculous thread is still going, sort of.

To add to this discussion as @DANMATUS reviving it reminded me of some stuff I read:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Profession...urgitation

There's been a myriad of magicians and other performers that utilize professional regurgitation as part of their acts. Swallowing/regurging live animals, flammable fluids to spit fire, or most famously in the case of Harry Houdini: very much solid objects like ivory balls or handcuff keys.

Is our main man Solid Snake actually fully swallowing those suckers? Or did he keep them halfway down his throat during the submarine ride to Shadow Moses? The lore deepens.

Thats too funny. Imagine what it must have looked like when he was practicing all of those hours.

I'd imagine he has a lot of free time between briefings and missions and the whole bringing cigarettes to an espionage mission thing must have been an issue for him in the past, so I'm picturing him sitting there in his cabin in Alaska with an emergency puke bucket and a whole carton of failed attempts.

Only the most serious and competitive people would try to compete in the 2005 Iditarod, so i can imagine him practicing something obsessively until he can do it perfectly, because that's exactly what you need to do in order to even qualify for that race. (I did a lot of research on it, turns out the Iditarod is a bit of a rabbit hole in itself.)

But i have to clear Solid Snake's name here, because on top of the fact that he may have been a great musher, he's also the most dedicated/addicted smoker ever. There's no way he would have bought an entire carton of cigs way up.in Alaska where every single thing you can even buy is much more expensive just to waste them on practicing a magic trick.

Expanding upon my theory I posted previously in this thread, he likely would have practiced various ways of relaxing his throat and suppressing any urge to gag, perhaps by eating partially frozen or barely palatable food during his training and racing in preparation for the Iditarod. However, this begs the question, why would he go through so much trouble to bring just one pack of smokes with him anyway? I mean, the chances are that there's more than one pack of smokes on the island already, brought in for the soldiers posted there or otherwise smuggled in for them.

He's either very addicted and will take no chances of going without nicotine any longer than absolutely necessary, or maybe he smokes a particular, obscure brand of cigs that he knows he probably wouldn't find there. Even if it was the latter though, that's a serious level of commitment to a certain brand of smokes. Do you think that by the time MGS4 is taking place, he got Otacon to start making smokes for him, so he could use his scientific background to grow the tobacco in a specific way in the greenhouse and make a close replica of the brand of smokes he always liked, which may have no longer existed by then?

Like, Snake just snaps his fingers and is like "Otacon, smokes" like Ricky does to Corey and Trevor on Trailer Park Boys.
