Can't believe this meningitis outbreak going on. Started in some crappy club a couple towns over from my school which we used to go to on results day and now a baby from my hometown is the first case in London.

Broke out the old face mask for the first time in a while for the tube this morning. Haven't even googled whether it would help for meningitis but I want everyone to know I don't want them anywhere near me.

Yeah it's insane. Also makes me realise how absolutely fucked our health policy is - we got a couple of people at our work place in their early 20s who didn't have the vaccination offered to them for free during Sixth Form/College/before Uni like we did, so about 5 or 6 of our team are totally unvaccinated in a weird 5 year gap where they stopped and started offering it for free. Very normal country.

Back once more. Had a job interview for a paralegal position in NYC. The PI stuff is my passion, but I need a proper salary and those sweet, sweet insurance benefits.

Went out for St. Paddy's Day against my better judgement. Found an old t-shirt at the bottom of my drawers that has the famous picture of the IRA volunteer wearing a balaclava and holding up his M16 on it, with the words "MARGARET THATCHER CAN EAT MY ASS" emblazoned on it. Probably not the most couth t-shirt I own, but it was a big hit at the pub regardless.

@Dirty Duck A significant portion of the almost-failed state I live in no longer believe in vaccination and so there is a measles outbreak slowly building in a few of the southern states and a slightly less worrying smallpox outbreak alongside it. Joke country. What's even the point anymore.

While working in blood bank, I have had people ask if blood they get can come from donors that didn't have vaccines. Namely Covid but still.

Oh it's my passion, and if the work starts majorly picking up like my boss said it would, then I'm sticking with it. But I haven't worked regularly since OCTOBER at this point and my boss/several sleazy law firms in The Bronx and Queens owe me like 1600 bucks at the moment. If I can get something to pay the bills and help my current boss out when I can, that would be ideal.

Don't worry, I will most assuredly be waiting in the corners of smoky bars in the future. Well, you can't smoke inside in bars in NYC for like 25 years at this point, but I get the vision.

I never knew you was from NYC, tr0nic. Was you born there or did you move recently?

So my parents lived in Hell's Kitchen when I was born (somehow ended up being born in Yonkers of all places) and they moved to White Plains after, lived there till I was about 6 then we moved to CT where I ended up spending the rest of childhood (besides one year living in Dhaka, Bangladesh). Parents split in 2010, dad moved back to Manhattan, so I split my weekends and summers between W 34th street and Stamford starting at age 12. I don't know where that places me, I'm like maybe 1/6th a New Yorker at best lmao.

I've been living in Bridgeport, CT for the past few years and my current work is usually in Brooklyn or the Bronx, and if I get this paralegal job it looks like I'm moving back to White Plains and then eventually moving into the city itself after that. Either way, I'm ending up in NYC for good at some point in the near future.

What about you? I just assumed you were from the UK/IRE like most of MGSF lmao

Oh no, I am. I’m a born and raised South Londoner. I’m just always interested when people talk about living and working in NYC because it’s one of the only places I’d leave London for. I’ve still never actually been either.
