What are you watching?
Watched Paris, Texas last night. Bought the Curzon 4K that came out just over a year ago on release but only finally got around to watching it now. Very affecting movie. Of late I've been drawn towards a lot of movies from very small parts of it, this was one that struck me years ago when browsing a local store just from its cover (which is arguably one of the main reasons why I pick up anything these days), so I knew little about it apart from its significance in Wim Wenders' filmography. I didn't expect it'd be at all like what it turned out to be. I knew some said it was very slow, and it is, but there's a real beauty in its lack of pace and how long it holds on certain shots and scenes, particularly the climax. It's one of those rare movies that feels like it is a wonderful example of a very specific point and time in a certain part of the universe.

Saw a preview of No Other Choice yesterday. A lot less dark than what I normally expect from Park Chan Wook, I enjoyed it. Although not sure it's one I see myself desperate to return to.

Just out of a preview of If I Had Legs I'd Kick You tonight. Rose Byrne was just incredible. I really didn't expect this was going to be as disturbing, dark or upsetting as it was. It has left me a little speechless.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms first episode airs tonight. I've never read the Tales of Dunc and Egg but I've gleaned a lot of info on it over the years. I'm probably going to listen to the Audiobooks starting tomorrow (shouldn't take too long to get the first book out of the way) before watching the first episode. Looking forward to it, somehow. I need more Westeros in my life even though we know what happened to GoT and the glut of problems I have with HotD season 2. I hope they don't do me dirty for the third time.

If it's anything like the short stories, it's going to be a bit of a tonal shift. But I've been hoping they'd adapt Dunk and Egg since the very first episode of GoT, can't believe it's finally here. The guy they've got to play Duncan looks the part, I'll say, but I hope to God they found a good actor for Egg.

Just watched Predator: Badlands. Fuck that movie was awesome.

Have been going to the cinema a good amount recently, watched Marty Supreme, Hamnet and will be going to see 28 Years Late: The Bone Temple tonight. Also watched Kpop Demon Hunters with my brother on Sunday. Oh, also watched Better Man last week, which I actually really enjoyed, bit of a marvel tbh.

Enjoyed 2025s film offerings a good amount but I haven't found myself finding any of the films I've seen being a favourite. That being said, I missed Good Boy at the cinema because it had like a two week release schedule - so of course I missed it - and I actually really wanna watch it lol. A sort of mini resolution for 2026 is to keep up with foreign film releases, because I keep on finding myself wanting a bit from English Speaking cinema atm.

I've listened to most of the stories and it's been really enjoyable. I'm guessing season 1 will end with the Tourney at Ashford. Looking forward to seeing my boy Lyonel Baratheon. A YouTuber I follow has said the stuff they've added to the show that's not in the books is really good and enhances what GRRM has already given us.
