Would you guys want orgs back?
#21
The main problem I see is that we're all too damn friendly with each other to actually warrant separate orgs anymore. But the classic org system was a huge driving force for member retention and added a ton of personality to old MGSF.

At the moment, I like Nate's idea of simplifying the org structure, although I do think there needs to be some level of application. Having a button or sig has to be worth something, so that it's harder for one or two randoms to entirely ruin an org's reputation, and to make newbies actually contribute to the forum rather than spam until they're allowed to use a button.

But in the future if we reach 75-100 active members? Hell yeah, old school orgs, full throttle. Scathing personal attacks in embassy threads. Airing out PF beefs in org chat. Fake org wars that get the preteen members to embarrass themselves because they don't fully understand trolling yet.

I concur with Crab, I relish the day we get enough members to have full scale scorched earth Org conflict again. So I can retreat to my PF every time one starts.
Until then I'm totally on board for just bringing back the button functionality without the PFs. Might even interest some of the new members if they see the drip and want in on it.

The orgs were the main reason I stayed around on MGSF, but it did cause a lot of rivalry and stupid shit to happen. I'll just go with whatever you guys come up with.

Not with something that actually divides the forum up (so no PFs) but something small and simple, just a button under your name or a small logo or icon related to it next to your avatar. I think it's a nice way of harbouring gentle joking between people again in that manner and can also be an enticement for newbies to get involved more. Keep it the way it was before, minimum 100 posts to get into one but no application, just picking one. Having it themed gets people more involved or excited about it.
This sounds pretty cool.

It’s been a while good sir… just know our war never died. It still rages in my heart. Love you.

Mixed reaction from me, I'd say yes but as you say Null, working differently from before, like staying open and maybe just having a badge/open thread rather than PF/private sections.

Orgs added a crapload of personality to the site but it also made things awkward for new members. When there's a lull in releases, and there will be a lot of that, a new members joins, sees some strange shit in the most popular section and decides not to join.
