5 is okay, always feel like a back in my day old fuck saying it but I feel like P5 really pales in comparison to 3 and 4. A lot of that is how much I hate the handholding it makes you do as well, rarely had days you had to do things but felt like 25% of my days were spent being told by that fucken cat that I couldn’t leave the house

Who did you like the most?
I romanced Tae

For what it's worth I like Makoto...

I do think Royal is still a great game-it improves on a lot of 5 and the stuff it adds is among the best parts of the entire thing. One of my biggest gripes of P5 is that it does feel almost too episodic. Older Persona games do to a degree as well as the calendar gameplay does lend itself to that a bit but in 5 it feels like after a character has their self-contained 'arc' they sort of...stay the same. And in a lot of cases because of the fact that you can complete their social links at any point they will often act as if their character development hasn't happened a lot of the time to accommodate for the fact that it might not have. I think this is a part of why the new Royal character arcs were a bit better-they're compulsory for the third semester so they get the chance to show their growth and change fully. I think the writing of 3 and 4 is better for the characters as they do feel like they grow and change throughout the story and not just during whichever chunk of the game is set aside for them. Compare Junpei's character arc to Ryuji's and it become's really clear in my opinion.

Persona 3 is my favourite but I haven't played Reload yet. I was very wound up by them releasing a third new version of Persona 3, a game which notoriously does not have a definitive version because of P3F and P3P each having their own unique extra stuff, and not including all of the previous content. The Answer as DLC and no FEMC just makes me question what the point of it was. I do own it so I will play it eventually but honestly finishing P3P femc playthrough is much higher on my priorities...as is SMTVV...and Metaphor....and Soul Hackers 2....

I'm playing P3R at the moment, enjoying it so far. It doesn't feel as good as Metaphor or P5R but still early days.

I hope you enjoy it! Persona 3 has so much to love.

It will still be a great experience but I do wish the more archaic form of the Persona battle system from the original game was still there. Playing through “The Answer” in FES felt like the most challenging experience in Persona and I had to make use of all the oddities of it rather than just automatically all out attacking every time the enemy is knocked down.

Finished Ni No Kuni 2 (with some post-game stuff but not much tbh)

Now playing Deliver At All Costs cus it looked quirky and fun, has turned out that it truly is.

I'm a bit further into it now and have a full party with some new battle mechanics. Really enjoying it, I'm digging the more darker vibe, and it looks super nice. Love the animation when you are about to hit a weak spot.

Tartarus does feel like it will become tiresome though lol.

I think reload is okay, but honestly in the future when I want to reply I will be replaying FES over Reload. Ahaha you just unlocked a memory in my mind of the first time I was playing the answer and repeatedly getting my ass handed to me, accidentally hit cancel on an all out attack and then realised it took a turn for them to get back up and was in fact way better than all out attacking and undoing the knock down effect.

Yeah The Answer had you ditching All Out Attacks like crazy! I know a lot of people don’t like it but I think The Answer is really great. Very challenging and I like the story of it.

Oh also does Reload’s AI for party members work or is it worse than FES for that like P3P’s was?

Honestly I only played through it once and it defaults to full party control so no idea, they at least kinda tweak the game to take into account that you have full party control unlike portable which was trivial when your party didn’t waste 75% of their moves in a turn
