I was quite looking forward to it as a Doom fan, but it was a bit of a let down. The level design and gameplay loop didn't do it for me and those mech and dragon stages were not fun.

I picked up The Precinct on a whim on Steam, it's really fun so far. I've played almost 7 hours. it has a pretty fun gameplay loop and a cool atmosphere. Some of the artwork looks kinda like it's AI generated though which would take points off if true. I'm kinda iffy on that though because I haven't seen many people talk about it
EDIT: I also got back into Star Wars Outlaws, since Andor S2 put me back in a SW mood. I bought it when it first came out and thought it was a really solid game but stopped playing it for no reason in particular. I got back into it yesterday and got the hang of most of the mechanics again but it looks like they changed some stuff since. The speeder controls are different than I remember and I heard they changed a lot of the forced stealth segments for optional stealth

I finished Metaphor the other day. I had some issues with it but I ended up loving it. I thought it dragged quite a bit in the last month of the game, and the end boss was annoying, I ended putting it on Easy just to get it over with. I had no patience at that point of the game. I really liked the characters, though, and the voice acting (they used the same voice acting studio Larian used for BG3 I read, so no surprise). My favourite characters were probably Hulkenberg and Eupha. I'm considering doing a NG+ at some point, the battle system was getting really good once I unlocked the super high level stuff.
Anyway, I finally get Atlus JRPGs now, I never really clicked with the gameplay loop before when I tried the Persona games, but I get it now and I ended up buying Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal (I bought Persona 4 Golden last year). I've already started my playthrough of P5R.

Splurged out on a gaming laptop upgrade last week and man I have been PLAYING. Mainly Baldurs Gate tho, finished an honor mode run with some pals and have started a solo one.
But I have been liberally downloading from gamepass, Metaphor, Expedition 33 and Doom Dark Ages are ready to go. I’ve also been playing 9 Kings. It’s a fun lil tower defence roguelite, and a run only takes about 20-30 minutes so ideal to load up when I get back from work when I can’t commit to anything longer.
On holiday again after tomorrow tho so back to massive RPGs

On the theme of Atlus JRPG's; currently doing a replay of Persona 4 Golden on PS5. I need to finish P5 Tactica and The Answer of P3: Reload. But I've also got Clair Obscur sitting there, and a Switch 2 due on Thursday. So many games right now...

I've never done SMT actually! I've played Katherine in regards to the wider Atlus canon, but never SMT. Any recommended place to start?

SMTIII: Nocturne received a remaster a few years ago so it's easily available on modern platforms. It's essentially the blueprint for modern Persona gameplay so if you've played Persona 3 it will feel reasonably familiar although obviously there's none of the Social Link time management mechanics. It's a great game with a meticulously crafted feel and vibe to its world, story, and characters. I couldn't recommend it enough.
If you play it and like it it will also have introduced you to Raidou whose game is the one releasing on Switch 2. Alternatively you can pay for the Maniax DLC and replace him with Dante from the Devil May Cry series lmao.

What, no Nero - outraged! Suspect that it might not be my jam because I like the spectacle and colour of Persona in addition to the battle system - it's the two elemets in harmony that appeals to me. I finished Metaphor, but I found it a little dry - and from my understanding SMT is drier than Metaphor, so we'll see...
If I see it on sale I'll probably pick it up.
