Yeah I played a bit of LotF, I was looking forward to it, I liked the idea of the Umbral mechanic but it felt meh when I played it. Souls games aren't really for me though, so I'm not the best judge.

The second
It's not as good as a From game obviously, but it does have some things going for it. A ranged build is viable (without spells!), I like the asthetic of the world, and switching between the realm of the living and dead gives some motivation to explore each area thoroughly.

Currently playing Metaphor: Refantazio, really enjoying it, music is really good. This might end up being the first Atlus game I finished. Although I find the graphics engine hasn't changed much since Persona 5, but that's a minor complaint. I still feel like Atlus makes combat systems that don't completely jive with me. I'm level 27 now though and still feel like a battle can go to shit if a low level enemy casts some annoying debuff or resistant to most of your party's attacks, but at least you can retry right away. I think I just like being overpowered pretty early in JRPGs or at least decently powerful. Grinding in this seems a bit too much effort with all the MP management, or maybe I just haven't found a good grinding spot yet.

Have you played SMT3? I feel like the press turn battle system is really great and in SMT3 at least you really have to use everything at your disposal to scrape by. I can't wait to play Metaphor but I just have a lot of games to work through rn-which is why it's not good that I'm....
Currently playing Balatro as it was free on PS+. I've done 5 runs tonight and I'm supposed to be packing up my room

Atlus's JRPGs have been a real blind spot for me growing up. Persona 4 and 5 (and now Metaphor) are the only ones I've owned so far, but like I said, I've never finished them, I might try P5 again after finishing Metaphor though (I might space it out a bit since these games are quite long). But yeah, Metaphor is great, really digging all the different UK accents. The voice accent has been solid.

The Devil May Cry anime brought a load of new streamers to the franchise and now I'm getting bombarded with DMC content on my socials, so I'm back on DMC5 again, grinding it out to beat the harder difficulties and farm red orbs.
That and finally finishing FF7 Remake.

Blueblob I haven't completed a run yet but my heart just jumped into my throat when I accidentally used a spectral card without properly reading it and I destroyed 4 great jokers (including canio) just to add a polychrome effect to the remaining one. I had to quit out and reload just because I so obviously did NOT want to kill my beautiful jokers I've curated across 6 antes. Thank fuck that worked. (inb4 I still don't clear the run LOL)
EDIT: I did it! with the Green Deck. It's neat how the unlocks encourage trying lots of different stuff. That run I turned most of my cards into diamonds and went for flushes mostly (I'm sure there's a boss ante that could render that a very bad idea)

Ahaha yeah some of those spectral effects are killers. Yeah flush was definitely my most played hand on early runs, later on it doesn’t scale as well but definitely solid for the first few chips. Yeah the way things unlock it really incentivises you to buy and have a go with absolutely everything which is great. My heart is with creating a deck of only aces and spamming five of a kind but everything feels like it could work.
And if you haven’t realised yet, getting an early green joker and just playing anything to build mult and never discarding is probably the easiest way to win a run, some of my highest scoring runs have just been an insane green joker with a bunch of multipliers just spamming like high card
