My overall thoughts is that the gameplay is very good and a massive improvement over the first in every way. The only major problem I had is that the driving physics still suck ass and need serious reworking.
The story was a bit of a let down, without spoiling it, I found it to be a pretty lazy retread of the first game.
The grind to get the platinum was fucking gruelling and honestly sours my opinion of it a bit. Getting 5 stars with all the facilities was made way more time consuming than it needed to be and it drove me to the brink of insanity.
After that, I'm gonna put the game to bed for a good, long, time. I suspect it'll be several years till I give it another replay. Even if it is my GOTY so far
Nice work man! I got my platinum today also. The adventurer was by far the most annoying prepper to get to 5 star I think! Ended up actually being my last one, comes to something when I found mr impossible easier (or at least less grindy)
I found the sub orders in this game much more enjoyable than the first though, considering they were sort of special missions rather than a ‘take this to there’ sort of thing. Made them stand out more compared to the standard orders.
I quite enjoyed the story, it is very similar to the first game mind you, but it does make me wonder if DS3 will follow a similar formula or whether they’ll change it up a bit.

The Adventurer was absolutely the hardest. He was my last guy as well. Mr. Impossible was the second last, they weren't too bad but I hate the dude's who voiced and mocapped them. They've been YouTubers for a long time and now they're doing feature films which have been good so far. But their voices and personalities annoy me haha.
Will there even be a DS3? I feel like I keep hearing Kojima is considering retiring after OD and Physint release.
Or maybe he'll change his mind or let someone else direct a potential DS3
I agree that the sub orders were a lot better than the first. I felt compelled to do all of them this time around. With the first I just got 5 stars with everyone then moved on and didn't do any unfinished orders

Hasn't he been saying some variation of this since MGS2? I think he's the kind of guy who will keep creating til he's dead. And he's clearly very enamoured with the world of Death Stranding. With the animated film and A24 film he seems keen to grow that world.
Well done both of you for beating it! I managed to play a bit today for the first time in ages (I brought my PS5 to a hotel room I'm at for work lol).
I've not checked since I'm nowhere near the meat of the game and don't want spoilers to appear on recent threads but is anybody in the spoiler forum on here?

Maybe? To be honest I haven't really been following what he's said in the pre social media days.
I heard he had some medical condition with his eyes that made him scared for his health and consider retiring or at least taking a long break from game developing. Maybe I misread those things and he's not gonna flat out retire soon, and maybe be a writer more and let other people helm projects

Yeah I think there will be to be honest! Partly because of the points Dirty Duck has made about Kojima and MGS2 being his last game, but also because

Do we know when the animated film etc is due to come out? I haven’t looked into it too much and don’t know a lot about it other than it’s supposed to be happening.
I’ve created a thread in the spoiler forum, but I’m all alone in there for the time being it seems! 😂

I didn't even know it was meant to be animated? All I saw was that it was announced but have not heard anything else since. Idk if it'll be an adaptation of DS1 or if it's an original story set in the universe. I'd prefer the latter honestly. I'd like to see how this world looks like from someone else's perspective

There’s two separate projects, there’s the live action that will likely be an adaptation and an “ original animated film.”
We discussed a couple of ideas in that thread but yeah it’s a real mystery what it’ll be about. Also has Norman Reedus been confirmed as cast for the A24 film? LOL

Can he even afford to make a DS3 right now with the movie, Physint and OD in the pipeline? Can't see him being given free reign to delay on those projects like he's been able to in the past.

Something to keep in mind is all of those projects are from totally different studios. Unlike when he was with Konami he doesn't have anyone who's actually in charge of him. Sony and Xbox aren't gonna want to pull the plug on Physint and OD and lose their KojiPro exclusive when the opposition has one in the pipeline. And the movie projects will require (and maybe insist upon) much less of an active involvement from Kojima compared to his games. That being said Kojima wants to prioritise OD next I think from what he's said but that's fine. It's not like DS3 has to be made this decade. I know Metal Gear never saw a very long break but Kojima was tied to that horse by Konami. I think he'd probably be happy to wait and see what next gen consoles could do for the series.

He might not have people directly over him but they're financing these projects so they surely will have expectations and demands of when they're going to be fulfilled.
Also how can you say the movie projects won't require much active involvement from him? He's going to spend every second taking pictures with every Hollywood actor alive for his Twitter and then scanning them.
