Speculation: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 3 Line-Up Rumoured
#1

Jordan Miller (VGC) was told that the Metal Gear Collection Vol. 3 will have Revengeance and V (not adding back cut content)

Revengeance would be getting a modern port and V will get 60 FPS current-gen console versions + other benefits of current gen.

Is it sad that PO and MGR would be the highlights for me?

Not really. MGSV isn't that old to get excited about as a remaster and not having the cut content is such a mistake. TTS is already a remake so that's a remsaster of a remake where yeah it's got issues but it's not like MGS4 where it was shackled to a system for over a decade. We also had MGS1 in the previous collection. MGR and the Bonus Content are the standouts here to me. The liberation of MGS4 makes the Master Collection Vol 2 the best out of the (theoretical) 3.

I don't buy into rumors too much but... any hope for Portable Ops to have better controls? Something that takes full advantage of all the buttons and stick the PSP lacked?

What about MGS mobile? That seems to be the only significant "missing piece" inasmuch as it is a 3D title with a (non-canon) story. Well, that and Survive, I guess.

It seems like a very plausible lineup. Twin Snakes would really be feather in the cap of whoever negotiated all the complicated rights issues. I wonder - will Miyamoto's portrait appear on non-Nintendo platforms? I expect Mario, Yoshi, and Otacon's Gamecube to be altered.

This is a rumour? Kind of just feels like the rest of the obvious picks. Or maybe even the bare minimum when you consider MGSV is playable on all modern systems save Switch 2. As others have said they'd be missing a trick if they don't add in any sort of "new" content to the port, but I don't necessarily expect them to do that. It would likely net a few extra sales for sure but it's a lot of effort for a port.

@starschwar even on the Vita you could play PO with two sticks. I'm sure they'd give it better support when doing a proper port of it.

I had no idea about the Vita doing that!  Never had one.  If they have Subsistence-style controls and a good framerate, that game will be an entirely new experience. I struggled through it once, and never managed to get far on further attempts. No matter how I remapped the controls, it just never, ever felt right.

It wasn't a special feature they added for Portable Ops especially or anything, the Vita just allowed for right stick and front and rear touchscreens to be mapped to function as several different buttons when playing PSP games. It happened to work especially well for PO given the face buttons being the camera controls.

Did you play PO long after it released? I feel like people who played it at launch managed to make peace with the somewhat jank button combo out of sheer amazement at a "real" MGS experience being on a handheld. Feel like the same thing happened with Metroid Prime: Hunters which was, objectively, quite hard to play as efficiently as the GC titles-but people managed quite spectacularly all the same
