Sniper Wolf's Shot

So I was watching someone do a playthrough of MGS1 and had a question about Wolf. When she first reveals herself after the caves, she has Snake in her sights perfectly but then intentionally switches targets to Meryl to use her as bait to lure Snake out of cover. Why do that when she already had her target in sight? She later said she doesn't kill for pleasure or sport so why shoot Meryl at all? I know the answer is probably "so the rest of the game can happen without it being an escort mission" but is their anything more here?

Was she privy of Liquid and Ocelot's plans for Snake and the PAL Key? Would kind of make pulling it off harder if Snake can't walk.

This was my thought process, although at the same time you kind of have to ignore Raven trying to kill him too. Part of me likes to think that she felt like Snake was going to be a good match for her and she wanted to really draw him into a fight with her rather than sucker punching him. Especially given her history with Big Boss. I feel like at the very least she wanted to meet him herself.

I agree with this, I think the whole point was to draw Snake into her kind of battle. The talk about not hunting for sport and so on makes it almost as Sniper Wolf has some kind of ritual when engaging in 1v1 battles. If she would just one shotted Snake he would be just another intruder / gguard but this is the legendary Solid Snake. Or maybe she just has the need to prove herself through a sniper duel.
