I fear I may out myself as a fake MGS fan if I don't watch my words...
I wouldn't worry, Refluxe was admin of MGSForums and has never even played the games really lol
![[Image: mgs-gif.gif]](https://player1project.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/mgs-gif.gif) I suppose that means I can admit... I never got through MGS1 guys
Ah I see you went to the Persona twitter school of being a fan of something Speaking of persona, have any of you guys played them and, if so, are they any good?

I saw something about a remake of one of them a few months ago and I thought it looked interesting enough but, since I'm not a massive jrpg fan, I sorta forgot about it..

A fair few of us here are pretty big Persona fans. I’d say they’re all great games honestly. If you get into the nitty gritty we’d all have critiques about certain entries but that’s just cause we’re fans with too much time on our hands opinions. If you’re interested I say just have a go with the one that looks the most interesting to you.

The first two seem pretty interesting but alas it looks like they've been locked away on consoles I don't own . I technically could emulate them but piracy is definitely always morally wrong, even when there is pretty much no chance the creators are getting any money out of the game anyway and they're near-inaccessible to anyone outside of a select minority...

Persona 1 + 2 are super cool! I played the remakes. They change the vibe of them a bit, the first game more-so so look into whether you'd rather experience the especially moody PS1 version or the funkier remake which was made to be a bit more inline with the vibe of later games. I personally really like the vibe of the PSP remakes. Their intros rock too.
You should then definitely buy a console that hasn't been supported for over a decade and buy some expensive UMDs instead of pirating them though. No question.

Also if the vibe of the first two is more your thing there's a good chance you might like the parent series Shin Megami Tensei which currently has two mainline entries which are playable on modern consoles: Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.
(Dante from Devil May Cry is in this video but on modern consoles it's a Shin Megami Tensei character instead (like it was in the Japanese release) but if you want Dante a DLC pack puts him back lol)

I’ve only ever played persona 5 (and strikers lol) because it was free on ps+ a while ago. Loved it though, I’ve got 5 royal sitting in library ready for when the urge to replay comes back.

I have vivid memories of playing the PS1 magazine demo disc with MGS on it with my cousin. I was 6 or 7 and utterly terrible at it and I never managed to get past basically just entering the Hangar. He bought the full game and I was still terrible at it. He gave his copy to me after he finished it, and years later I eventually went on to finally get past that section and beat the whole game and, despite not being in contact with him any more, I still have that very copy in my possession and have done my best to look after it well despite it being pretty beaten up at this point (those jewel cases were never great).
The point is, you can still realise your dreams!

I played the MGS3 demo and I was so used to the idea of jungle as dense as that game's being an invisible wall that I didn't even try and walk through it and just kept trying to figure out a way to get down the cliff you start in front of without dying (of which there were none). After trying that for 15 minutes I moved on with my life to something else.
I wouldn't get into MGS for another 4 years.
