I like Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater!
I'm not sure if we're still doing introductory threads but this morning I got a Reddit DM from Wayno inviting me over here. So here I am!
My name is Nick, I live in Sydney, Australia. I recently turned 30, I work in live audio, and when I'm not working I mostly play video games and watch movies.
That's about all there is to update you guys on...
I joined the original forum in 2010 when I was 15 and was a pretty on and off user. My most active year was probably 2013 if I remember correctly. I did join Metal Gear Legacy but didn't check in all that often and completely missed that it shut down.
It's great to be on a more familiar looking site, I'll try to check in have a chat whenever I can!

Glad to see you, Bulup. Really respect the effort in not taking the easy option and responding with, "Nah, fuck off."

I can't believe it either most of the time!

No worries at all man, I've always had fond memories of MGSF so I thought it could be fun to reconnect with familiar faces (or I guess, names)

Hey hey! We never interacted much over on MGSF, I used to go by OzwaldTheCrab over there. Awesome to have another familiar username around.
What's it like working in live audio? I just graduated uni and was largely trained in live TV.

Ohhh yeah I remember that name, yeah I don't think we really spoke much
Live audio probably has a lot of crossover with TV. Some of the dudes I work with also worked in TV.
It's pretty much a lot of long days where you sit around and wait for half of it. I mostly hang PA on gigs and do some stage work, like running mic stands and powerboards out during changeovers. I've just got off tour with Roxette, I was with those guys for almost 2 weeks travelling Australia

Sounds about right. Still figuring things out but live events sound like a sweet gig for what it is. Sure, me and all my college friends want to make movies, but going on tour to shoot behind the scenes stuff would also be killer.

Man that's pretty sweet. I've heard from so many places how exhausting touring is, 2 weeks sounds nice though.

A lot of it depends on what country you're in. Tours in the US can take up to 6 months because how many cities and towns there are to play at. Tours in Australia only last from a week and a half to 2 weeks because there's only 6 major cities. Two of those can probably only barely be classed as major cities, Hobart and Adelaide are tiny.
Some of my coworkers have been working in the US for their summer recently, since the winter here is when it quiets right down
