Making our lives better
#1
Hey everyone,

Figured I’d start a thread where we can all share practical advice on making our lives better. The idea is simple: each person posts one piece of advice and includes:

- The type of advice (financial, health, marital, psychological, career, etc.)
- Why it’s important
- How to actually do it

Anyone is free to ask questions about anyone else’s advice — don’t be shy, just keep it constructive. The more discussion the better.

I’ll go first.

Type: Financial
Advice: Start stacking physical silver. I still think it has a long way to go and can reach $120 an ounce again (and hold higher levels over time).

Why it’s important:
Silver put in a massive run from the start of 2025 through the end of January 2026. It began the year around $30 an ounce, steadily climbed, broke the old $50 record in October 2025 for the first time in decades, and finished 2025 in the low-to-mid $70s — roughly a 140-150% gain for the year. Then January 2026 went fully parabolic: it ripped higher almost every week, cleared $100, and hit an all-time high near $121 on January 29. That kind of move shows the upside when industrial demand (solar, electronics, EVs), supply deficits, and investment interest line up.

Even after the sharp pullback that followed (it dropped hard at the very end of January and has corrected further since), the structural case hasn’t gone away. Physical silver you hold yourself is still a solid hedge against currency debasement and economic uncertainty. It can’t be frozen or digitally altered, and the industrial use case keeps growing.

How to do it:
- Buy a little every month (dollar-cost average) instead of trying to time the exact bottom.
- Stick to recognizable coins or small bars from established mints/dealers (American Silver Eagles, Canadian Maples, generic rounds with low premiums, etc.).
- Keep premiums reasonable and avoid high-markup “collectibles.”
- Store it yourself in a safe or secure location you control.
- Treat it as long-term insurance, not a get-rich-quick trade. Only use money you can afford to park for years.

That’s my piece. What’s yours? Drop the type, why it matters, and the practical steps — and feel free to ask questions on anything posted here. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

Absolutely right. Just make sure you marry the right first.

Actually marrying the right wife is the best thing to do to win in this life… Take from someone who hadn’t chosen right. 😊

HEALTH:

If anyone here is like me and suffers from poor mental health and smokes weed. Quit immediately (doesn't even have to be for good; just give it a month or two away from it) and start exercising. I used to be trapped in my bedroom smoking weed all day every day, moaning about how unhealthy I was. Then I quit weed, and after the psychological withdrawal (prepare for intense paranoia and a complete lack of a sense of humour. Warn your friends beforehand) passed (took me 5 or 6 days), I found an enjoyable form of exercise.

For me, it is brisk walking/power walking and Tai Chi.

Massive improvement almost as soon as I quit (I am not kidding you, the week or so after you quit will be brutal, like Scarface meets Trainspotting) and goes hand in hand with other things in my life, but it is the thing that has had the most impact/best decision in my entire adult life.

The drugs don't work; they just make you worse.

Luckily, haven’t tried any kind of drugs or any sip of alcohol in my whole life, yet something I have failed to do is to implant exercising in my time in the last 20 years or so. As a result, I became overweight lately with no stamina at all! Seriously, taking a 10 steps up the stairs became a bit of a challenge and this is happening before I even reach 40! Sexual life and breathing is starting to take a hit tbh 🤣 which was what triggered the “I have to do something about this!” Bell. I’ve been advised by the doctors is to start doing crossfit exercises 5 hours a week. I was told that I would feel an obvious improvement and difference in just one month.

So, yeah I think you’re absolutely right. Substituting weeds for exercising was a very smart decision.
