Lynch Mr. Tibbs

Someone was lying, and while some of the townspeople weren't sure who it was there were those among them who didn't have such reservations. They grabbed the man from behind and began to choke him out, he kicked his legs out at the others who attempted to close in on him, exposing a flash of black fabric beneath his shirt. He slammed his head back into the nose of his captor and broke free while their grip was loosened, he shoved the crowd out of the way as he sprinted for the front door. He burst through it but didn't expect the heavy rain, slipping on the wet driveway and slamming his skull against the concrete. His vision went hazy as the group one by one gathered, towering over him, he could just make out his Ghostface mask that had fallen out of his pocket and laid besides him. The rain fell on the mask as the mob descended on him. His scary movie was over.

The mastermind had been dealt with, but there was still one among us who intended to carry on the legacy...with one more accomplice at large, everyone returned to their homes wondering who would survive the night...

I arrived back at the Macher Estate only to find that, for the second night in a row, everyone seemed to be present and accounted for. There was no tape playing on the television, so I suppose that was one of the mastermind's flourishes. Given the night's survival rate and lack of background noise I'm sure a few among us were wondering if maybe we were wasting our time and the threat was well and truly over...but we still hadn't found the voice changing device used for the phone call, meaning there was still an accomplice at large...and we had to find him to make sure the killing stopped once and for all.

There is still a sus imposter among us.

Probably doesn't need that much explaining but the most likely candidate is Starschwar between him and Roger. He is the player I shared my joint with last night. That doesn't prove anything in itself as I announced that decision beforehand and the mafia can choose not to kill someone but he voted for Roy and Roger was far more eager to vote for Mr Tibbs, even if hesitant and unsure.

The day had hardly begun and already a decision was made. The final accomplice didn't attempt to escape or fight, he sat staring blanky while the police were called, and remained there until they arrived. Perhaps he had tried to claim to be a virgin hoping that that fabled horror movie survival rule proven right by Randy Meeks the year before would save him in the end...but unfortunately those rules aren't recognised by the American Justice System. The new new acting Sheriff arrived on the scene and cuffed him, taking him away. Later investigations revealed that while he was an accomplice, he hadn't actually carried out any of the killings. The only evidence of his participation was a voice changer, the same make that The Woodsboro Murders claimed Billy Loomis had used during the original murders. Career lawyers jumped at the chance to defend him, and after an extensive and highly televised trial he managed to get off with only three years. Apparently his interest in horror movies faded while he served his time, usurped by an obsession for a sci-fi film that released a couple of years into his sentence. The Stoner was asked to join the local police force when they learned the part he played in discovering the identities of the killers, but his four letter response made his lack of interest clear.

Woodsboro's progress in shaking the murder town reputation had been reset to zero, but for the survivors of the Second Woodsboro Massacres they were grateful to come out the other side with their lives-six innocent people weren't so lucky. I finally boarded that bus out of town. My notebook was filled with a first hand account of events rich enough to make an entire Stab film in and of itself, but if Sunset wanted that they'd have to pay extra-the retainer they gave me for "research" was nowhere near enough for putting my life at risk for a week. I took one last look out the window at the streets of Woodsboro as the bus made its way out of the town.

At least for now, life was back to normal.

Some behind the scenes:

Town's ability succcess rate throughout the game was incredibly low. There were only two positive hits throughout the game, Agent's protection of weavo on Night 3 and Annoying Prick's blocking of starschwar on Night 5.

Aragorn's shooting of Null meant his role as Final Girl became useless, as the mafia knew to avoid him and felt comfortable killing without the disguise. This decision had Roy ready to kill him late game just for being a bad town player.

Agent's protection of weavo marked a turning point for town, as it exposed the attempted framing of him by making foul play apparent and allowing weavo to survive long enough to reveal that Agent had not possessed the Ghostface Costume the night before, making the attempted frame apparent. This called into question all other claims made by the mafia players, and ruined their plan. Unluckily for mafia, this was also the only night they planted the Ghostface Costume.

Wayno used his one-time role learning power as The Prime Suspect to learn one thing: Roger is a virgin. Unfortunately this knowledge died with him immediately afterwards.

bigboss88's extensive planning in the Private Mafia forum resulted in me having to turn off the "Today's Top Poster" section in the forum's sidebars for fear of exposing him as mafia via means unrelated to the game.

starschwar's The Gossip ability was exclusively used to deliver messages from bigboss88 to Aragorn. This convinced Aragorn that bb88 was town for a while, but in the end revealed not only that there were two accomplices, but that The Gossip was definitely one, losing mafia their one remaining safe role claim and forcing two double claims.

weavo attempted to investigate starschwar on Night 3, but was roleblocked by Annoying Prick. In the end this proved more useful, as it allowed weavo to soft-confirm Prick as town, while the investigation on starschwar would have come back negative due to the Ghostface Costume being planted on Agent.
