Westeros (Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms)
#11
Honestly, Jon is just okay. He's a bit too much of a blank character built to allow people to project onto him for my liking, and there are (at least in the show and books I read) attempts to provide his character with a soft, gentle masculinity, but it is just budget Aragorn. Which in it's essence would be fine IMO if the author didn't take literally every chance possible to slate LOTR lmao.

First episode of season 3 of HotD was basically the finale of season 2. Not happy with a lot of stuff tbh. Especially Aemond and Alicent. Oh and Nettles and Sheepstealer, or lack of Nettles, obviously.

Everything about this show is dog water. Aemond and Alicent, the change in the Gullet, Sheepstealer and Rhaena being robbed of Morning, etc.

They can't fuck up The God's Eye. Surely. It's all I've got to look forward to now. When they made Alicent and Rhaenera the main characters when at this point they don't do much was a problem that should have been spotted earlier. Also no Viserys at the Gullit or am I mistaken?

Sorry @Aragorn, but I really enjoyed the third episode once I chose to overlook the changes and accepted it as (substandard) fanfic. I thought Emma was fantastic and everything in this episode they did with Rhaneyra is what GoT failed spectacularly with when handling Dany. I'm still expecting the show to shot the bed. Also the use of music was incredible.

Currently watching Game of Thrones for the very first time. Has been on my to-do list for a while now. Simply wasn't much into fantasy at the time and refused to jump on the bandwagon.

Obviously I'm aware of the discourse surrounding the finale and how utterly atrocious it is, and I will brace myself for that inevitability, but I reckon I can still enjoy the journey that Seasons 1-7 take me on without thinking too much about how disappointed I'm going to be.

Currently treating it as a weekly thing with my partner, so I won't be finishing it until March 2028 by my count. Don't expect any hasty updates from me.

Oh hey, you're finally awake.

Game of Thrones Season 2-8? Atrocious finale? George RR Martin lost weight on Ozempic? What are you talking about? Anyway, come on, GRRM is at the book launch for the final part today.

GoT was in the toilet in S5. S5 and S6 have some dissonance with the audience because the big set piece episodes are so well loved it masks just how poor the writing had got and just how much they did not want to adapt books 4 and 5.

Ira Parker has done such a stellar job with AKOTSK that GRRM should give him all the details on how the books end and give us a Harry Potter style reboot because it's actually warranted in this situation.
