Ghost of Yōtei

I got this earlier in the week and loving it. I really liked the first one as well, but I haven't played it since it first came out.

I'd like to play more but work's starting to get busier which makes it hard to find time

Better than Tsushima in every way. Gameplay, story, characters, side quests, combat.

I'm up to Teshio Ridge so far - and i'm still loving it. I hope the momentum carries into the rest of the game - and so far i'm very impressed by how compelling Atsu is as a protagonist.

Jin was alright but he was just ''samurai honoru man'' which isn't particularly compelling - especially when his inner conflict about honour vs practicality isn't really reflected in any meaningful way in the gameplay (you could very much just bum rush the whole game the honourable way with ease). Atsu is a guerrilla fighter straight off the bat; and her story is more personal.

Other than that, the weapons are a lot of fun. Odachi feels so good to swing like a relentless mad man, and the duel katanas are incredibly stylish.

Never had myself down as a Yari enjoyer before playing this, but here I am as my weapon of choice. I know it's supposed to be a tic-tac-toe of swapping weapons to match your opponents, but I find myself favouring it more than the others.

Despite the fact that Kusarigama wielders are a fucking nightmare.

Tbh much like Tsushima you don't *have* to match each weapon to its favoured opponent type - sometimes i'll use a less effective weapon for style points.

It's one of the reasons I like the Odachi so much - there is an upgrade that makes it stagger everyone more, and an upgrade that give your health bar a Bloodborne style ''regen health on attacks'' buff; so in the end it ends up being baseline effective against almost everyone.

To me it's the shield fuckers I hate the absolute most. When they dodge my chain ball I get SO MAD.
