Fox Hunt thread
#11
I do agree it was PR speak, but to be fair it is true that the modern landscape has changed a lot. I don't know how successful Survival would be these days where you have to have a full team made on your own to be able to play matches at very specific and short times, or how well their login and customisation system would be taken nowadays. They're probably looking at this as something that would compete with other modern online shooters to some degree (I don’t think it really should as it is unique but still).

After MGO3's poor reception and the userbase dying so quickly I think it is fair to suggest that it won't be an instant success if they just repeat that old formula. All us old heads would love it, but that's not enough to sustain it if it doesn't engage and retain newbies.

So I feel like this was suspected anyway but Fox Hunt won’t be available at launch

So tweets don’t auto translate when embedded it would seem lol

Personally this affects when I’ll end up picking up Delta. I got a lot of games I have yet to find the time to play-and the single player of Delta is already a game I’ve already experienced mostly. I’ll maybe wait until Fox Hunt is out as that’s something I want to be a part of the zeitgeist of.

Big shame but yeah I said above I thought it could be the case. It's a shame but part of me likes it as it means I can just play MGS3 to begin with.

However, they really should have made this clear when they announced it. That was either clearly a mistake, or they decided to try to improve the offering of the mode after looking at the reception of it after seeing a lot of negative feedback about it not being MGO. They're putting pressure on themselves now to really deliver something decent here.

Edit: Wait I don't think this is official confirmation, that quote is from the initial time it was announced, no? I know it's worded in a way that very much sounds like it is the case (especially from a Japanese company), but it also sounds to me like it was just something they couldn't elaborate on at the time as they were trying to get it ready.

The official MG Japan Twitter account has said that Fox Hunt will not support crossplay. Seen a lot of people annoyed about it but if anyone had played something else under Konami like eFootball this wouldn't be one bit surprising. They promised crossplay for that about 3-4 years ago and then went completely silent on it until about half a year ago when we finally got it.

No crossplay in the year of our lord 2025 seems ridiculous. I know people are somewhat opposed to it with shooting games as mouse and keyboard has an advantage(?) but if you want the game’s lifespan to have a fighting chance you want those servers full.

Also Nate why no clan name suggestion thread yet?

It's a bit of a bummer for sure and they're not helping themselves, but in terms of online infrastructure, Konami really haven't come far at all since MGO2.

No thread yet as I figured this sad news wouldn't make for a very gleeful thread, have to think of our poor PC and Xbox-based brethren.

So we’ve finally got a name for the octocamo thing. It’s called AT-Camo (All Terrain Camo) and apparently it’s enabled at all times.
Here’s some new screenshots:

Permanently enabled? Don't think I'll like that. That second screen looks a bit like something from a battle royale game to me. Might be nothing and is just players that dropped items but it feels like it's set up as that.

Cross-platform multiplayer not supported in FOX HUNT.
This mode does not contain any in-game purchases.

The video seems to confirm that while it's available at all times, it's not always enabled.
Though the mention of procure on site, while very MGS, is also how Fortnite essentially works so doesn't really dispel your fears of Battle Royale. Hopefully it being based on MGO's Sneaking mode isn't just all talk.
