Quote:“Year by year, She erases us.”

Once a year, the Paintress wakes and paints upon her monolith. Paints her cursed number. And everyone of that age turns to smoke and fades away. Year by year, that number ticks down and more of us are erased. Tomorrow she’ll wake and paint “33.” And tomorrow we depart on our final mission - Destroy the Paintress, so she can never paint death again.

We are Expedition 33.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a ground-breaking turn-based RPG with unique real-time mechanics, making battles more immersive and addictive than ever. Explore a fantasy world inspired by Belle Époque France in which you battle devastating enemies.

Reactive Turn-based Combat
In this evolution of JRPGs, real-time actions enhance the heart of turn-based combat. Craft unique builds for your Expeditioners that fit your playstyle via gear, stats, skills, and character synergies. Open an active dimension in combat - dodge, parry, and counter in real time, chain combos by mastering attack rhythms, and target enemy weak points using a free aim system.

Been eagerly expecting this ever since the reveal. Wasn't too sure I'd get along with the combat system too well, but the world design and plot was more than enough to pull me in instantly. Reviews have been exceptional with it sitting at 92 at the moment and with some even saying it is going to be in the mix for game of the year. Looks like my copy may actually arrive tomorrow now so I can't wait.

I've got it downloaded through Game Pass and ready to go. Wasn't expecting it to be a contender for GoTY, very excited.

Mine is coming tomorrow but I'm tangled up with FFV at the moment.

This probably will be my next game to play, the reviews are unreal. I really want to hear Edge's verdict.

The voice cast is really good too.

Charlie Cox
Jennifer English
Ben Starr
Andy Serkis

After her performance as Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3, I'll happily have Jennifer English in every game lol.

Anyway, here's a fun little quiz with Jennifer English and Ben Starr.

I love Ben. We're blessed to have him around and doing so many games right now.

Really looking forward to this. It's been on my radar for a while, and wondered how it'd perform for a AA turn-based RPG, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it'd achieve a 92 on Metacritic. Hopefully this gets as much support from the public as possible, and possibly a GOTY nod.

FYI, between this, Oblivion Remaster, South of Midnight and Doom: The Dark Ages, now is a REALLY good time to be a Game Pass subscriber if you own an Xbox. To play all of these for the price of a 3 month subscription is insane value.

It's been fun seeing him blow up after FFXVI.

I´m more and more hyped for this! Saw someone compared it to FFX. Let me know what you think.

Still only in the prologue, but I'm liking it so far. The music is very good and the voice acting is great, lip-syncing is a bit off though, I think they are synced to the French voice actors. The battle system kind of reminds me of Lost Odyssey mixed with Persona. Anyway, not much has happened in the story yet, but it's already got me to tear up.
